    tumble dryer installation

Thank you Kai. I checked again, and there is a fuse connection plate directly above he cord outlet plate. Stop me if I get this wrong, but is this so if the unit blows a fuse, the entire unit will not have to be pulled out and re-fused, and then replaced? I wired the tumble dryer into...

    tumble dryer installation

Hello again. I'm helping a friend re-fit his kitchen and today we replaced the tumble dryer. We pulled the old tumble dryer out from the wall to unplug it, but found it was wired directly into the wall without the use of a plug, or any apparant fuse. If we were to remove the plug and fuse...

    repair to yard asphalt

Great, thanks. I think this job might be a little too involved for just me to complete to a satisfactory level, so i'm going to try and get some quotes from some contractors and present the recommendation to the MD. What sort of contractor would I need to look for though? Are there people who...

    repair to yard asphalt

Evening all, The warehouse at which I work has two roller doors, one of which is regularly used with fork trucks and pallet trucks. The result of which is that the asphalt that butts up to the concrete of the warehouse floor has subsided resulting in a drop of about half an inch. I know it...

    shipping container

Alreet. My boss wants me to fix a shipping container that was broken into at work. This wouldn't be a problem if getting the old pins out wasn't such a pain in the *ss. You see the old pins were cut through between the hinge plate, and the hinge assembly attached to the door. I know it's hard to...

    Looking for an oxy-acetylene welder

Oxy acetylene is the one for me. You can't braze, solder or cut with a mig welder, and the portability is much better (and no way can I afford a TIG). After looking around I settled on a portapack kit from www.thewelderswarehouse.com. all parts british made, and really solid (it arrived today)...

    tool handle repairs

I think to get a nice tight leather fitting, it should be laced or sewn onto the handle when the leather is wet, then the leather shrinks when it dries giving a shrink wrap tight fit. Thats how they do it on some sword handles, I would assume it is the same principle.

Cheers Masona, I've bookmarked that site for further drooling  I see that stuff is suitbale for pointing. Do you think it might sort the problem If I raked out half an inch depth of mortar from the joints and repointed with cement made using the additive? Or does it have to be...

When my dad was teaching me carpentry, I learned to drive in screws with a yankee that belonged to my grandad. I have one of my own now, and still use it occasionally.

    seeping bricks!!!

Fudge!. So this waterproofer additive, is it something that we can spray onto the brickwork? Would that be similar to the stuff he sprayed onto the cinderblock walls when he built them, or does it have to be applied during building? cheers

    Looking for an oxy-acetylene welder

Thanks Jason. By porta pacs do you mean the smaller "buddy bottle" size of the re-fillable bottles, or the disposable bottles of turbogas you can get? The building is a brick walled, wooden roofed garage, seperate from the house itself. I'm setting up a home workshop for a small home...

    seeping bricks!!!

Evening folks, and happy new year My family has recently had a new garage built by a local builder, but now the wet weather has arrived we find that the red bricks on the exposed side of the garage are letting through an awful lot of moisture, so much in fact that its dripping down and...

mwah ha ha ha ha! What makes you think I won't be doing the dabbing *chortle* Actually have my eye on a very reasonably priced black granite (or is it marble?) surface table, around the size of an A4 sheet for only £35, and the local college is going to sell me a load of old marking out tools...
