    Reverse circulation or not?

Yup I agree it is a one pipe system. And I'm thinking if I screw a 15mm showerhose non return valve into the second and subsequent rads then It has to stop!

    Reverse circulation or not?

Here is a rough idea of the pipework layout: When downstairs is off the flow which is common to both acts as a one pipe system for downstairs. If a non return valve could be introduced to the flow pipe in the second and subsequent radiators on the system then all should be ok...in theory.

    Reverse circulation or not?

Thanks guys for your help! Having drawn the system on paper. I can now see exactly what's happening. It's actually turning the circuit on the bottom of the house to a 1 pipe system, and normal flow is in reverse. If I was to fit non return valves or one directional rad valves ( if there...

    Reverse circulation or not?

Can you explain at least where it is getting its return from? Is it one pipe through the flow or where.

    Reverse circulation or not?

I have to sort this or I don't get paid! I've seen this before on an oil boiler where pump was on the return and motorised valves were on the return. Surely swopping the valves to the flow still wont sort it. So there is no fix other than another flow back to boiler?

    Reverse circulation or not?

Think your right. Imagine this, flow and return leave the bottom of the boiler straight down to the floor. The return is T'd off and below that is the motorised valve for downstairs. Off the branch of the "T" is another motorised valve for upstairs return. Problem is flow is common to both...

    towel rails failing to heat.

Mmm How long did you leave it? Works 9 times out of ten Only other option is to remove the rads one at a time and flush some water from both pipes one at a time, until the air lock is removed You up to that? D

    towel rails failing to heat.

Sounds like an air-lock due to sagging pipework Turn off every radiator/zone in the house apart from One of the offending radiators. On the opposite side to the TRV there is another dummy valve. Remove the plastic cap from this completely and open the valve fully using an adjustable...
