    ply over 22mm t&g chipboard

Chipboard is laid on a suspended wooden frame base which sits on a lower existing concrete floor (internal garage). It is sound and firm. No pipes or cables under the floor. There are some pipes but they are much much lower. Final floor, will be fiber based screed over the ply and Karndean...

    ply over 22mm t&g chipboard

Hello I'm going to be laying just under 4 sheets of 4' x 8' (2440mmx1220mm) 12mm ply over 22mm t&g chipboard. Some questions 1) Screws or nails? I'm thinking screws (total wood depth 12mm ply + 22mm t&g =34mm. I was thinking these...

    Replacing pump

Yeah, been running around all week buying parts and tools, but it was worth it. I hope so :-) hehe maybe, I can't help what I've inherited though. I certainly wont let those pipes get all corroded like the previous owner. No leaks first time, so I'm happy :-)

    Radiator bleed nipple sheared off

Interesting idea, I don't have the tool to do that, but maybe it's possible.

    Radiator bleed nipple sheared off

I figured if I drill it, I should probably take the rad off so I can flush any bits of filings. I'm not sure what you mean by screw plug. The other end looks exactly the same, but minus the bleed valve i.e. it's just blank.

    Replacing pump

Thanks for the tips. My first difficult plumbing job, so I thought I'd post the results. Before. Before. After, just needs some pipe clips.

Can't find drain off valve except above boiler.

This is actually how I did it in the end. Really simple, the hozelock tap connector fits and seals perfectly.

    Radiator bleed nipple sheared off

Hi the bleed nipple sheared off on a double radiator - see pic. I'm really annoyed I didn't spray some wd-40 in there to see if it would free it up. Hindsight eh! I wondered if it is possible to repair it. Maybe try to carefully drill out the broken nipple with a small drill bit. Is...

Can't find drain off valve except above boiler.

Thanks, this is really useful and confirmed what I thought. Yes it is that type of valve (the other end is one of those thermostatic valves). The female coupler looks like what I need to connect up my hose - good shout! Thanks.

Can't find drain off valve except above boiler.

I'll have another look (I've not lived there long, so it's possible I've not noticed it) Would there not be a risk of a drain off outside or in the garage freezing?

    Replacing pump

Thanks for the tips guys. No need to start bashing each other. It's clear there was a mistake about valve type and the post edited. I think we all agree that gate valves are preferred.

Can't find drain off valve except above boiler.

I need to drain off the system, but I expected to find a drain off valve on a radiator (the lowest point). I can see a drain off valve above the boiler, on the return pipe. Is there a good reason why the valve is near the boiler and not on a radiator? I figured it might be worth fitting...

    Replacing pump

I've read a few posts on here about replacing a pump, so I have a good idea already. At least I know my heavily corroded mess will not be a simple swap. I'm replacing a Myson cp53 with a Grundfos 15/50. I've read on here to grease the pump thread (Silicone Grease) to aid in future removal\...

    levelling chipboard flooring

Hello, my first post here I can feel in the bedroom the floor is slightly uneven. Upon inspection I can see there appears to be a double joist where the chipboard's meet (there are gaps, so I can see a fair bit) It looks like one one the joists is about 2mm lower than the other resulting...
