So how much would your average installation into an unvented (with solar coil pre-plumbed already) be?

    Noisy waste stack...any ideas?

We have an internal waste stack and the builders have been so there's been a bit of movement etc around the area of the stack. Problem is that whenever we get a lot of hot water out (dishwasher, washing machine) the waste makes a pretty loud creaking sound for about a minute, like pipes...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Research? Try my empirical data. I have had both boilers. The Glow-worm was a heck of lot quieter. The Vaillant is so much louder it's hard to understand why. The installer said every one he had installed was loud. The 4xx is also very unforgiving, requiring a fast, high volume of water...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Gary I am no expert, but have plenty of experience with cycling. A few questions/suggestions: 1. What is d.0 at the moment? Try 15 or 12. How many rads? 2. What speed is your CH pump set at? It should be max speed, (not anything clever like Grundfos Alphas are prone to do!) as that pushes...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

I also think the 400 series is a noisy, cheap piece of rebadged Glowworm crap. With wonders of hindsight I should have gone for a sealed system and a decent Vaillant boiler. Pipes under screed persuaded me not to.

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Mr.831Bunny Not so, by my and at least one others observation. I can clearly hear a difference in fan speed and observe different water rate changes on the 428 if I set d.0 to 12, 18 or 22 etc. You may be the Vaillant-master, but you are mistaken on this issue.

Vaillant VRC430 - what works and what doesn't?

You would think so, but I have 2300sqft, 20 rads and 22mm reducing to 15mm everywhere, but still, have had silliness from this system.

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

That's incorrect for the Vaillant Total System. Flow temp is set by the VRC430f regardless of modulating/thermostat. The boiler controls are left on max for both water and CH as the 430f overrides it. Problem is that it is badly programmed so needs an update.

    Wireless programable thermostat recommendations?

I beg to differ. Modern high capacity NiMH batteries experience voltage stability through the discharge cycle that beats many alkaline ones. They work well on the 430f, equalling alkalines in my unit.

Suggest - Wireless programmable thermostat. Honeywell seem to have a good reputation.

    Wireless programable thermostat recommendations?

I have a Vaillant VRC430f - the batteries last about 3-4 months! Bought some high capacity NiMH rechargeables, which help.

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

I'm not too sure what the modulating does if you have the 430f thermostat providing the demand requirement for the heating appliance??? Surely the boiler would modulate accordingly anyway?

Vaillant VRC430 - what works and what doesn't?

And how does a normal bod get this software mod? Seems it should be standard for any Ecotec/430f install given how stupidly it behaves.

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

This may be of interest to those who have cycling issues using this system. I have a VRC430f, VR61, Ecotec 428 and an Aurastor unvented cylinder. Cycling: Mainly this occurs due to the heat flow temp being low e.g. 43C but the boiler heating past that very quickly as it turns on and then...

Water pressure/flow problem with Vaillant Unvented

Just to update: New 32mm (oh yes!) blue poly from meter to stopcock, reducing to 28mm to 22mm to PRV. Flow at the stopcock was approx 60l/min (10 litre bucket filled in just under 10 seconds. Upstairs now 30l/min from a bath tap after balanced PRV. Combined from the 2 hot big bath taps...

    Re-enamelling a bath?

Looking to do this vs replace due to not standard 1650mm and it being a fantastically built 35y/o British bath. Can anyone recommend a process or firm? Thanks

Vaillant EcoTec 428 configuration issues for Hot Water Only

@tony If that comment was for me, why would I want *any* restriction on the DHW coil when I have a 22kw fast recovery coil ?

Vaillant EcoTec 428 configuration issues for Hot Water Only

@tommcdonna The 430F has options for the control being Thermostatic or Modulating. The Vaillant guy recommended keeping it at modulating (rather than thermostatic as default) if you have 1 zone + DHW with a VR65.
