    Central Heating Controls Wiring

Andrew, I got fed up with the inconsistency of the hive and ordered a Nest,,,,what I should have done at the beginning. One question on the wiring, Do I need to run a wire from L to 2 and 5? or simply just bridge 2 and 5? thanks

The stat was out of situ when tested (got it in front of me right now) and I did put the screwdriver into the safety slot just to ensure that the stat had not tripped. Have I done it wrong?

I placed the multimeter leads on both terminals of the stat. The multimeter was set to 200 ohm setting. There was no reading on the meter even when moving the temperature switch on the front of the stat (calling for heat and then off again). I hope this was the correct way!!!

Oh, same as testing the stat??

Tony how do you test the resistance of the element and what should it read?

    Megaflo

So nothing showing up on the meter proves its a dud??? Going to compare it with a known working stat on Sunday to see the reading difference.

    Megaflo

Yes supply reaching the stat. I have just tested the stat and am not getting any Ohm reading so i think the stat has gone in a short period of time rather than the element. Am i correct in assuming that no Ohm reading equates to dud stat?

Yes I did push in a small screwdriver to see but did not feel any movement so presumed it was not tripped.

Hi Tony and thanks for your reply. The safety has not been tripped on the stats and when they were installed they were set lower to around 3.5.

Hi All,,,, I purchased a flat around 6 months ago, which had an old white lid Megaflow tank (electric only), 2 immersions (top up at top and economy 7 at bottom). When I got the flat both stats were shot and they were replaced and all was good (OEM ones, purchased from Unvented Components) ...

    Central Heating Controls Wiring

Hi Stem, You are correct and my mistake. The wire should be labelled "going to motorised valve". With regards to the wiring, I think you and Jackthorm are on the same page but I thought I'd leave them in place and label it so that just in case in the future a wired stat is needed, the wiring is...

    Central Heating Controls Wiring

Ok when installling the Hive, Instead of just connecting the two wires removed from the old thermostat together to create a loop, I have taken a pic on inside the junction box and marked up on the pic. To avoid just connecting the two wires from the thermostat what should be done in the junction...
