    Intermittent tripping - earth fault?

A wire coming from this socket had melted somehow, hence the tripping. Whatever he has done it's sorted now. But no, he hadn't tested the socket originally. I think he was looking extra money for sorting this but no way was I paying.

One more question. What are the safe zones? Also, should the spark provide a cert? Cheers.

    Drylining wall that is mouldy...

Hello all, I've ended up stripping the drylining back in my kitchen due to refurb. It was standard drywall w/ timber stud and polystyrene slabs to insulate. Plastic sheet was between all stud work/timbers and the external wall. When i pulled the plasterboard off it was clear that it...

Wiring without conduit? Good or Bad?

These cables were not behind the drywall. The spark cut into the plasterboard and insulation and the cables put along. Then the builder buttered the tracks up with bonding. I take it this is standard procedure then? I thought perhaps it was a dodgy job.

Flashing around terraced chimney - who's responsible?

The flashing on the three sides of the chimney that are against my tiles is in a1 condition. His side is without flashing. He is saying that because it is my chimney that it's my fix. I think he is bluffing. I also spoke to a building surveyor who is a friend and she has stated that it is...

Flashing around terraced chimney - who's responsible?

Cheers spraggo, I've looked in the attic and the chimney does stretch across both sides of the boundary line. I'm thinking that it must be down to him to sort. Also, he tells me that he is planning on reroofing but wants me to fix the flashing anyway. Surely then the flasing on his...

Flashing around terraced chimney - who's responsible?

Hi all, Been reading round here for a while but here is my first post. I moved into a house two years ago. Had been reroofed etc before I bought it. The neighbours roof is in bad shape. He called round today and told my partner that his roofer was replacing some tiles and noticed that...
