Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Eureka! Eventually traced the shorted cable after removing wiring from 6 of the 8 sensors (sods law!); then traced the route and found it was on the wiring run to the door sensor. The fault with the original panel arose on 15th December after a power cut but it looks as though that was a red...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Lucky you! :D I've had a bit of joy this afternoon in that I disconnected one section of the ID loop and the fuse fail led went out. I've also programmed zones 1 - 8 with id wiring and done walk tests and bell tests. Good news is that exit door contacts are working but sadly none of the...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

My 24IXD has electronic fuses at F2. Also the expander plugs straight onto the pins at JP6 on the panel & locates on lugs supplied. I connected up the 12v & ID cables for the ID line to terminals 1,3,5 & 7 (L to R) on the IXD with all power off and taking care with polarity. Presumably this is...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Powered up again this p.m. Had to kickstart batteries but defaults were still loaded. No change in status though. IXD still shows fuse fail but it's difficult to tell which since, as they are all electronic fuses, they reset themselves presumably on power down so continuity checks with power...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Thanks for the quick response Alarm. The Premier 24 I have is version 8.32 and there are no fuses only hardwired capacitors (?) in the F2 - F5 positions. All cabling seems fine and hook-ups were very carefully done. I've got segs on my eyes reading the manuals. Page 8 refers to the NDI's...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Thanks Europlex. Mine shows them too but they don't exist on the board which is Version 8.32. Only 1 replaceable fuse which is the incoming mains. The fuse fail is showing on the iXD PCB for which there is no detailed schematic! The manuals are the latest d/loads from Texecom but there isn't...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Hi, Did all that, except I've left the PA out for now, and powered up this afternoon. The 24iXD is showing 2 red LED's. 1 says "fuse fail" and the other is on the right hand side with no indication AFAICT of what it is. When I go into Utils on the keypad the iXD doesn't seem to be...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Hmmm! Terminals 2 & 3 are Tx's, Terminal 5 is RX and Terminals 13 & 14 are Spkr. I've got the Installation Manual for the 1700 but it doesn't tell me what "SP" and "C" are. Thanks anyway. Today is power up day on the Texecom, so it's fingers crossed! :)

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Thanks; I'll wire up tomorrow. I've just used the two surplus cores to double up on the power to the RKP although, just for my curiosity, I'd like to know what the "C" and "SP" terminals were for? BTW... I won't be programming part sets :o life's complicated enough!!!

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Well, the Premier 24 panel, IXD expander and Premier LCD RKP arrived OK and I've checked out the existing Caretech panel & Keypad wiring against the intended Texecom set up. All seems Ok but before I start I'd really appreciate your help in clarifying a few points. 1. The Caretech panel has...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

On order and picking up tomorrow with LCD RKP. Hoping for the best on programming! Thanks again for your help.

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

As you see from my reply to Scott1980, it seems to have been a pukka job. The wiring is very neat with tidy cable runs and all components properly mounted. Shame it doesn't work! :-) Thanks again.

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

It doesn't look like it; I have 7 PIR's and 1 set door contacts. Back at the panel I have 1 Bell white 6core, RKP( presumably Remote keypad) white 6core, LS ( presumably Loudspeaker) white 4core, Bed 3 (presumably 1 PIR) white 4core, ID ( presumably 6 PIR's + door contacts) brown 4 core. I...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Hmmm! Looks like back to the drawing board! Don't want to get into re-wire 'cos of health problems and now a bit bothered about getting out of my depth. Premier 24 doesn't support double pole wiring and I'm not sure if this is needed for ID. Premier 24 + Keypad would be £105 but 48 would...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Thanks for that. I've had a look at Texecom and the Veritas Excel, which seems to be well thought of, looks as though it would fit the bill but I have a few concerns:- 1. Will it work OK with the ID biscuit wiring on the existing PIR's? 2. As it has only 8 zones which are all in use, will I...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Following our power cut problems, I want to replace my Castle caretech 1700Mk2 panel and keypad as the 64 pin processor has blown and I can't find a replacement. I've had a quote of £420 which is a lot for a poor old pensioner so I'm hoping to do it myself. I've looked on the Castle site and...

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Hi Joe-90, Thanks for response; presumably you meant a new board as opposed to rectifier/regulator? Trouble is that Caretech 1700 Issue 2 board is obsolete and operates from remote keypad so I don't know what I could replace with without getting into complete rewire? Any ideas?

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Finally got back in the loft while putting Xmas dec's away and checked that transformer. Both primary and secondary windings seem OK and don't show any short. AC voltage on output is about 14v which I think is right. Re-assembly and switch-on caused F1 (tamper) initially, then after insertion...

Thanks "Alarm", I'll get to that as soon as I can and report back. Meanwhile "the boss" has got me busy sorting Christmas!!! :)

Power cut problem on Castle Caretech 1700

Hi, Had already checked fuses OK. Just checked battery leads with mains on and battery disconnected ...result 7v. I've a feeling this should be 13.8v so does that mean it's the transformer supplying too low a voltage to both the battery and the 12v circuitry in the board? From what you said...
