PD and atrium window in flat roof

Freddie I've looked at the docs you suggested and am thinking that as our eaves on the extension are no higher than the existing eaves and the atria take the extension height to under 4 m then we should be okay. I'm basing this on page 16 of the communities and local gov doc. Am I right or...

PD and atrium window in flat roof

Do you guys know where the height measurement is taken from? Is it the original bottom of the house or the new bottom? The back of the house ground level is slightly higher because of a patio.

PD and atrium window in flat roof

Another factor is the flat roof is on line with the original eaves so the atrium will be above that line but below 4 m. Which takes precedence the max height ie 4m or the eaves height?

PD and atrium window in flat roof

The atrium is a three panel velux window that is cut into the flat roof and stands proud above it in a mini hip roof shape if that makes sense.

PD and atrium window in flat roof

I am building a single storey rear extension on a detached property. I know there is a height allowance of 4 meters but my query concerns an atrium window I'm putting in the flat roof of the extension and whether the height of this atrium has to be included in the 4 metre allowance or not?

Measuring cubic metres for a loft conversion

I have visited the planning portal again and used their calulator for dormers, put my measurements in and the tool returns a figure within the PD allowance. When I simply multiply width by depth by height on a calculator I get a much larger total. Presumably the volume calculator's logic is...

Measuring cubic metres for a loft conversion

I have attached a crude drawing. The dimensions are: width at eaves is 12m height from eaves to ridge 2.4m depth is 3.2m It is essentially the width and shape of the existing hip roof. I think it's more than the PD allowances but multiplying the three figures above doesn't take into...

Measuring cubic metres for a loft conversion

I am thinking of converting my loft into a bedroom and I was wondering how to measure the cubic metres to see if I am within permitted development. I have looked on the planning portal and their volume calculator implies that the measurements are taken for the width, height and depth (on the...

    Loft conversions - permitted development?

According to the planning portal loft conversions are permitted development but I have heard that some planning departments still insist on a planning application. Can they do that, even if my plans conform to the planning portals list of conditions?

Type of windows allowed in ground floor extensions

I am considering placing an extension on the rear of my house. A small extension (1m deep x 3 m wide) already exisits and I want to make this bigger (3m deep x4m wide). I want to put two small side windows in. These are 2 1/2m from my boundary. I have been told by the planners that these new...
