Bleeding the system with a combi in the loft

Just thought I'd come back and confirm that it did self-vent when switched back on. Completed the job on Saturday morning with no issues.

Bleeding the system with a combi in the loft

Thanks very much for the tips and advice. Fortunately there is a pressure gauge on the landing which makes keeping an eye on it a bit more straight-forward :) I've managed to get in touch with the installer and he's confirmed that it's self venting. Cheers, Ian

Bleeding the system with a combi in the loft

Hi, I'm moving a rad at the weekend and will be draining the central heating system beforehand. When I refill it I know I need to use the fill loop to get the pressure up to 1.0 to 1.5 bar and then go around the rads bleeding the air out of them and repeat until there's no more air in them...

    2-gang light switch replacement

Many thanks for the quick replies, I've made the changes and it all works correctly now. It's lucky I take more time over my wiring than I do my diagram-drawing as both reds were actually in their respective L1s and not L1 and L2. Cheers, Ian

    2-gang light switch replacement

Hi, I've replaced my lounge light switch as it was looking old (plastic had yellowed) however my new one doesn't behave in quite the same way. The lounge has 2 lights and they are controlled independently from one another by a 2-gang light switch. I.e the left switch controlled the left...

    Cooker hood extraction distance

Cheers for the replies. There is a floor above the kitchen so going straight up isn't an option. However I've spotted a more powerful extractor (380m(cubed)/hour) so I may try and exchange mine and get the more powerful one just in case. Cheers for the advice/useful comments, Ian

    Cooker hood extraction distance

Hi, I'm looking to fit a new hob and hood where the intended positioning is a fair distance from the nearest external wall. I plan on running some ducting from the hood, up into the ceiling then along to the outside wall. This distance will be about 15 to 16ft (approx 5metres in new...

    Concrete Floor Problem

masona, thanks for the advice, but I have to confess to getting a little lost here. I'm inexpereinced at this kind of work so have perhaps missed what you're saying. My problem is that my layer of sand is level with the existing inner layer of brickwork, so if I just poured concrete on to my...

    Concrete Floor Problem

There doesn't appear to be a damp proof course, as part of this project the doorway is being bricked up and a DPC will be put in as part of that. Ian

    Concrete Floor Problem

Hi, I've now laid the sand and as promised, I've uploaded the pictures; http://www.verses.free-online.co.uk/kitchen/loo1.jpg http://www.verses.free-online.co.uk/kitchen/loo2.jpg http://www.verses.free-online.co.uk/kitchen/loo3.jpg As they show the sand comes up level with the inner...

    Concrete Floor Problem

Cheers for the help and advice given :) However, problem 2 has arisen. :? Last night I broke up the old concrete floor and re-laid it as the hardcore base. Looking at my plan diagram (http://www.verses.free-online.co.uk/kitchen/kitchen.jpg) where the old doorway is to the garden I can...

    Concrete Floor Problem

Thanks very much for that, looks just like what I needed to know. The only other thing is how long do I leave the concrete to set before applying a screed, and are screeds fairly easy to get level? Cheers, Ian

    Concrete Floor Problem

Hi, Apologies if this is in the wrong section but it seems most relevant to me. Firstly, this is a problem I'm encountering as part of a larger project, but I'll try to focus on the actual problem itself and not wander off onto the project. My house has an outside toilet which is part...
