HELP PLS - How do I fix to this?!

Re mask. Thanks! I will remember for any further pulverising (now that I know what I hit for a few seconds!). Yes. That’s right. That’s exactly what GripIts are. I did a quick search on their site (albeit from my phone) and couldn’t find the tool you mention immediately but I will persevere...

HELP PLS - How do I fix to this?!

Victorian. 1880. Problem is, because there’s an existing hole at the very bottom to allow (speaker) cables to come through I know it’s about 18cm to the wall! Hard to know how to insert a rawl (or equivalent) from that distance? Thanks for your quick reply. Steve. P.S. Yes. It’s definitely brick.

HELP PLS - How do I fix to this?!

Hi All. I really hope someone here can help. I’ve recently been charged by my wife to install a (39’’) TV Bracket upstairs in the (converted) Loft (semi-d, party wall). Using magnets etc. to find 2x stud fixings (successfully, I think!) I naively assumed the 2x stud-less (fixings-to-be) were...

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

You have me worried now. I bought 2x brand new replacements for belt and braces: These - HomeBerg 2 Way Double Plug Adaptor - Multi Plugs Extension Sockets Adapter - UK 3 Pin Socket Extensions 250V 13 Amp - Power Extender Multiplug Block for Kitchen, Office, PC, TV, Indoor Lighting...

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

Thanks for looking out for me JohnD ;-) Given most folk wouldn’t even have posted to this forum - to ask those with far more actual knowledge what they thought - I think it’s a safe bet that I won’t. (I can’t speak for the wife though!) Thanks, Steve. Note to self: don’t assume joiners have...

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

Ha! Thanks both of you. Rest assured, I intend to use the 3x only as means to allow the other plug (for the power strip) access. And, yes - while the 3x is (I think) from the dark ages (well, 1995), the power strip is an all-singing, dancing, “smart” WiFi job (with surge protection). So I’d hope...

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

Ha! I’d love to. It’s a false bottom (not a shelf per se) at about (top of) skirting board height. It seems our good (but a little over-zealous) decorator has managed to seal it in at the front so it no longer lifts! Thanks for all the help! Btw. The “turn it upside down” sounds like it might...

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah - I suspect I will have to (or, rather, maybe ask him to come back and do so; it's a pretty rookie error). (I did try to add a link to a (public) Google Drive image but it wouldn't render - as you saw!) Thanks again, Steve.

Safe to use three-way adaptor to "solve" logistics problem?

Hi All. Our joiner has just completed a TV cabinet w/ bookshelves in our alcove. Unfortunately, while he has accommodated a hole at the top (for cables) it is now no longer possible to plug any reasonably modern plug into the standard UK 2x socket as the bottom shelf sits flush underneath the...

Safe to attach metal curtain brackets to RSJ?

(My last!) I've measured and the curtain-bracket holes are actually just under 5mm. (A 5mm metal drill bit will not pass through when turned). Is M4 the right choice? (Or is there something in-between?). Thanks!

Safe to attach metal curtain brackets to RSJ?

For example, hex head, Philips head, etc. (Is hex better for RSJ, or does it not really matter?). Thanks!

Safe to attach metal curtain brackets to RSJ?

Thank you so much for the fast (and comforting) reply. As per my last - and apologies to lean on you more - do you have any recommendations for both bits and screws (see post above)? Steve.

Safe to attach metal curtain brackets to RSJ?

Thank you. Do you have any recommendations? My (handyman/tiler!) is here on (this) Monday and has asked me to get relevant bits (Tungsten HSS, I presume?) and screws in advance. (I guess it's likely to be an Amazon job). Am I right in thinking I need to get bits which are 0.5mm smaller than the...

ROFL. Thanks for the comforting post!

Safe to attach metal curtain brackets to RSJ?

(Or is it a Steel Lintel?) Hi There. I hope someone out there can help! I've been charged with "making the curtain pole stay up!". As you can see from the uploaded pic, I got a guy to try to glue a couple of pass-through brackets (using sticks-like-sh*t) but sadly it wasn't as strong as our...
