    50% deposit?

Just being nosey rhinosaw, what is it you do please? Seen many different posts asking about heating systems, boiler models and prices all relating to different jobs over last 6 months or so. Are you a builder or property developer I’m guessing?

    50% deposit?

I take deposits to cover all materials now. If customer doesn’t pay at end like many do nowadays even when no issue with workmanship at least it’s only labour (bad enough) that we are losing out on. People say go to small claims etc, just kore unnecessary time and effort

    50% deposit?

I started taking deposits to cover for materials/boiler etc now also. Got burnt with couple of jobs and really screwed me financially so don’t take risk now. Don’t see issue personally, it’s for materials needed for job not like any labour money is being asked for. Just my opinion nowadays...

New boiler - Worcester vs Ideal

Am I missing something, why would someone be quoting a 15kw alongside a 24kw boiler? Massively oversized if 15 is all that’s needed

    hot water problem

There’s a way you can check if overheating. The display shows sensor temperature of heating when no hot water is running and shows hot water temperature when tap running. The black lever on far right pipe which usually points upwards when not isolated can be turned 90 degrees to isolate...

    Ideal Isar HE30 Weird noise

I was replacing auto air vent on one of these and accidentally dropped a small screw right down into the heat engine by mistake. Would occasionally get a noise like this, thankfully it made its way and got caught in pump housing so managed to remove. Possibly similar happening here

Take a look at Picture Please

Have a look in airing cupboard if you have one, or wherever the hot water cylinder is. Or under kitchen sink/unit. Usually a braided/flexible metal hose but not always.

Take a look at Picture Please

No disrespect to poster, but it’s unlikely they are going to know how to check an expansion vessel properly when they aren’t sure how to top up pressure. Please dont take that the wrong way @H0llies By all means have a go if you feel confident, can find info on how to do it on the faq page on...

Take a look at Picture Please

To get your heating back working, I would just top up for now. When the heating is on and system hot, check if much movement on the gauge again, if it has risen considerably then there may be an issue with vessel needing recharged. You can top up until this gets looked at but don’t just keep...

Take a look at Picture Please

Yes you need to top up system pressure via filling loop. Set to about 1.2 bar when system is cold. If not sure what this is then google filling loop and topping up boiler pressure to see what I mean.

    Advice on replacement heating system...

Do you have different heating zones in the property? I’ve never seen zone valves fitted alongside thermal store I don’t think. Sorry not much help to your questions but think they have been covered pretty well, I’m just trying to work out in my head how a zone valve works alongside a thermal...

Ideal Classic Boiler Cutting In & Out

If all hot and you turn boiler stat down to lowest setting and it doesn’t cut out, sounds like faulty thermostat but I would have thought this would make boiler run continuously until separate overheat thermostat kicked in, which would require a manual reset of pushing button on underside of boiler.

Ideal Classic Boiler Cutting In & Out

Hi, I would get someone in and before they come explain what is happening, and ask if they know what could be. If doesn’t happen when first fired up, could have easily been missed by service guy. I don’t personally have boilers running for that long on a service visit but some may.

Most reliable boiler today - free boiler -Open vented system

Ahh yes. For some reason I glanced over and thought I saw two flows from boiler one going to cylinde. Oops

Most reliable boiler today - free boiler -Open vented system

Good points above. Also worth noting, very unlikely a new “free” boiler is going to be relocated to a garage without you paying extra. There may also be a cost to upgrade system to fully pumped s plan, not sure how the “free” boilers work. You currently have a gravity hot water cylinder, they...

    POWER FLUSH WORTH THE MONEY??

Curious as I’ve heard rumours Worcester are or have started their own line of work that deals with flushing, system repairs etc rather than just the boilers only. I was worried about this as along with them partly owning boxt and being able to fit boilers much cheaper than rest of us they would...
