Now leaking! Back joint onto the waste pipe, so awkward to get at!

    neighbour dispute about sewage pipes

Perhaps the OP can say whether the new bathrooms etc are part of an extension, or something Building Control would be involved in; if somebody rang me & asked I come out and inspect, I would want to know this beforehand.

    neighbour dispute about sewage pipes

As it appears to be a common drain, it's now a minor sewer & the water authority would have to give permission for a new connection, and it will have to be to their specification. It would appear the OP is wrong; it's not the OP's drain, it is a public sewer.

    Cracked shower trap

I managed to replace the trap today; awkward, but running for about 5 mins no leaks so far. However, much wet wood under, including the sole plate of adjacent stud wall. I've opened it all up to dry out. thanks for the inspiration to have a go at this.

    Building regulations plans rejected

    Cracked shower trap

I've had a problem for a few months, and having the afternoon off have investigated a leak under my ground floor shower. The body of the trap, where the pipe leaves to go towards a connection with the waste pipe, is cracked. This is over a ground bearing slab, although my builders seem to have...

    Building Regs requirements

When Approved Document B changed in April 2007 it became a requirement for 2 storey extensions, and where a ground floor habitable room was created without an external door. Loft conversions & houses already required it. For these purposes, kitchens were classed as habitable. Some authorities...

Loft Conversion - Doors, Fire Regulations

As a local authority building inspector I can tell you how we do it, but the neighbouring authorities will differ slightly. All doors to staircase enclosure (incl bath/wc) to be FD20 fire doors. Either intumescent seals, or 25 x 25mm stops screwed and glued, and three steel hinges. Cupboard...
