Zanussi washer dryer stops working within seconds

That makes good sense, I had a similar case with the pump of my boiler causing earth faults, a kind user of this forum suggested warming it in an oven and that solved the problem. I suppose the heating element can support a higher temperature than the pump. What temperature setting would you...

Zanussi washer dryer stops working within seconds

The machine was in a rented house and I don't know how the tenants used it Indeed it is a ZWD model (ZWD12270W), and the stored error code is ED4 (after searching the net on how to access it:)). It is intriguing that the lesser you use it the higher the risk of it developing a fault, I would...

Zanussi washer dryer stops working within seconds

I get 121V from each leg, however, this voltage is always present even if the machine is in Pause mode. while the voltage between terminals is only present briefly at the beginning of each washing cycle or continuously during drying cycles but zero in Pause mode.

Zanussi washer dryer stops working within seconds

Thank you jj4091 for your input I only used a simple multimeter with the knowledge that if there is an earth fault the RCD will trip as you said. However, as I said the voltage at the heater terminals is 121V, does that mean a transformer is used? and if so will an earth short at the...

Zanussi washer dryer stops working within seconds

Hi all, I appreciate any help with my problem, I have a Zanussi essential 1200 washer dryer. It developed a problem when it was barely 2 years old. - when put in any washing cycle it starts working but stops within 5 seconds and enters into Pause mode and door latch is released. - when in...

Drain heating - keep hot water

I have done it with my Ravenheat boiler. However, I selected the summer function button in order for the diverter valve to stay in hot water position. I worked on the heating side with no problems. For draining the pipes I opened the bleeding valve of the highest radiator and that was...

    Pump capacitor causes earth fault

Thanks Matt and Tony, You're right, the problem was water leaking into the winding. The leakage originated from the auto air vent which is positioned just above the pump. The water seeped through the screw opening of the motor connection cover (which was meant to be water tight, but I...

    Pump capacitor causes earth fault

Thanks Matt for a speedy reply, The voltage rating of the capacitor I put in is 440 V (got it from Maplin) I suspected the capacitor because when I remove it and operate the boiler the fault stops happening and it works until the overheating protection kicks in as the pump is not spinning. I...

    Pump capacitor causes earth fault

Hi all, I have a Ravenheat combi boiler that developed a fault over a month ago. It stopped working and found out that the pump capacitor had developed a crack. The original capacitor is a 2.6 uF, I replaced it with 2.5 uF as that was the closest I could find locally. It worked fine for over a...
