    Damp problem

I haven’t got any from further back unfortunately, this shows a bit higher up and also the bubbling which has been worse by the window. It’s funny you should say about it coming from that corner as my mum is sure it’s coming through from the house next door which is quite damp, but is that...

    Damp problem

We have a problem with damp on the lounge outside wall. It originally started when we had a terrible time having new windows fitted. We eventually got another tradesman in to refit the lounge window but the damp problem still remains. When we decorated that room after the window debacle it was...

Thanks joe-90 for the info, think I might still cross my fingers and say a few prayers before I let go of it!

    Heavy mirror

Hi guys I have a mirror about 7kgs which I want to have on a brick/plaster wall. There is only 1 keyhole fitting on the back, hole size is just 10mm. Concerned that a single screw will not be sufficient to hold it securely. It's a large metal sun with very sharp points all the way round and a...

What to paint this outside wall with?

This wall is the side of my neighbours house in my garden. As you can see the bottom un-rendered part is unsightly and needs a repaint. The old green paint on it is floor paint (suggestion by B&Q staff) and prior to that it was painted with masonry paint which became manky within a few months...

    Grout sealer for bathroom floor

We have some lovely pale porcelain tiles on the bathroom floor with champagne coloured grout. The grout gets grubby really quickly (mostly thanks to having 3 dogs!) and it takes ages to get clean. Is there a sealant I could use to keep it clean? It needs to not affect the tiles, also we have...

    Window trim

No, window 1 wasn't square, they've now moved this window again as they'd pushed it out too far on the 2nd attempt which left it bulging at the bottom on the outside and also left the bottom opening section of the window twisted so it could only be closed with considerable force. I am concerned...

Best mist/1st coat over poor skimming job

Does anyone know if the Polycell Damp Seal needs a mist coat? we've got a bad leak around the new window and i've had to take all the new paint back to bare plaster. Once I know the leak is fixed i'm going to do the whole wall with the damp seal, should I re do the mist coat on the patches of...

    Damp problem around toilet cistern

I suppose it is possible, but I don't think it can be evident from the inside as we have just had a plumber sort out the dual flush and he never mentioned anything untoward. Worth checking out though, thanks.

    Window trim

Had yet another fitter round to look at the leaking window yesterday, he can't see a problem either and is now blaming it on the roof even though he says he's not a roofer. We explained that the old window didn't leak in around the frame but he said that now the window is airtight this could...

    Window trim

We had one of the fitters back again yesterday as the bedroom window was still leaking water in between the frame and the wall, they resealed it but today it's still leaking. They say they can see nothing wrong with it so who knows what they can do now? :( This video was taken at the weekend...

Thanks, will see if that's possible, going to get the cistern off the wall and paint all the wall behind it with some damp seal paint so will do that at the same time.

    Damp problem around toilet cistern

It feels like the pipe goes off towards the wash basin level with where it enters the wall, I guess it wouldd need to go upwards to be causing the problem and the wall is fine for a good foot before the problem on the wall. The previous bathroom had boxing in around the floor about a foot 10"...

    Damp problem around toilet cistern

Yes, the room was mist coated and the paint is fine everywhere else. I should have said that there is condensation all over the cistern after a shower, even if you dry it off it comes straight back. It's a very cold room with 3 outside walls, still chilly in the winter with the underfloor...

    Damp problem around toilet cistern

We had a new bathroom fitted about 5 years ago, at this time all the walls were skimmed. About 2 years ago the paint has started to bubble on one side of the cistern, presumably caused by damp coming from somewhere. None of the pipework was moved and I can't see anything wrong with the wall...

Best mist/1st coat over poor skimming job

Best mist/1st coat over poor skimming job

No, not checked the loft, as it was coming in in various area including the bottom of the wall, but worth a look I guess. Got a chap coming round tomorrow to put some water seal on the outside bricks so will ask him to have a nosy. I did find a can of this...
