Hive Installation - Worcester Bosch greenstar heatslave ii 18/25

Yes but it's not particularly useful to answer my question about whether simply removing the controller will bypass/disable what I need to in order for the Hive to take over.

Hive Installation - Worcester Bosch greenstar heatslave ii 18/25

I'd like to fit a Hive to my Worcester oil combi and pretty familiar with the connections I need to make from the boiler to the Hive, apart from how to bypass/remove/disable the existing programmer, which is a Greenstar Comfort RF. It isn't connected via the ribbon cable, but via contacts with...

Correct way to have rendered an old stone house

We live in an old cottage, built around 1860, so made up of local stone. It was unfortunately rendered at some point. I've had to do some digging recently to open up a drain that had been cleverly cemented over by someone and noticed that the render goes down way beyond current ground levels...

Recessed Bathroom Lights in Lathe and Plaster Ceiling

Thanks, just looking at options at the moment, recessed being one of them. May be more hassle than they're worth though!

Recessed Bathroom Lights in Lathe and Plaster Ceiling

I'd need to check. It looks like it has either been skimmed over or replaced at some point as it has a smooth surface compared to the rest of the ceilings upstairs, which look more "original" ;) I don't know whether the original L&P remains though under the skim, or whether previous owners...

Recessed Bathroom Lights in Lathe and Plaster Ceiling

Planning a bathroom refit and looking at lighting options. The ceiling is lathe & plaster. What are our options (if any) to fit recessed lights? Bathroom is upstairs, L&P ceiling, insulation and loft boards in the attic. I can imagine it being a pig to drill the holes for them, but would we need...

    Hot water pipe sizes

Thanks. I found a JG Speedfit that looks neat. Used JG before and like them. Hopefully will solve my problem!

    Hot water pipe sizes

Thanks. Are you able to get Speedfit or compression fittings to do the job?

    Hot water pipe sizes

Hi, can someone help me out with pipe sizing. I'm planning a new bathroom fitting and just sizing things up and making some checks before I start taking things apart and ordering new things. There's a single hot water feed coming into the bathroom via what I thought was a 22mm pipe. This runs...

Removing Cement Render from Stone Building

Hi. First post here. We live in an old ca. 1860s stone house which has painted cement render. Whilst there's nothing really wrong with it apart from needing painting, we've been toying with the idea with removing it to expose the stonework. There is an unrendered section of wall to the side...

    Camray 3 Oil Boiler motor/burner

Ah, my wife's just shown me the service sheet when it was done a few weeks ago and it says the capacitor was changed then. Just checked and it looks very new too.

    Camray 3 Oil Boiler motor/burner

Is a capacitor easy to get for this boiler, and can I change it myself? Reasonably confident with electrics etc.

    Camray 3 Oil Boiler motor/burner

Thanks. The other thing I've noticed is that from cold it starts up more often than not. It's when it's been running for a while, switches off then when it tries to come on again, it usually locks out. Not sure whether this is related.

    Camray 3 Oil Boiler motor/burner

Hi. We're having problems with our Camray 3 oil boiler. We only moved in a couple of months ago and the house was empty for at least 8 months before we bought it and the boiler had been sat idle. The boiler kept locking out which I've learnt could be a whole host of issues but the symptoms...

Rewiring Horstmann C27 from Potterton 2001

Can anyone help me with the rewiring of my old Potterton EP2001 to my new Horstmann C27 please? They are meant to be "compatible" but have to change the back plate and rewire. This is what I currently have: Cable "3" is my Hot Water, "4" my Central Heating and "M" is the mains from...

    Balancing Radiators

Thanks, I understand that but what do I do when 3 of the radiators (i.e. the first rad off each of the "branches") heat up at the same time? Which do I do first?

    Balancing Radiators

I've been flushing out, re-painting and putting on new TRVs and lockshields onto our radiators in our new home and need to start balancing the radiators. I've read a lot of info about how it's done but still have a few questions if someone can help, please. Ours is quite a large and long...
