    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

BAS. You are jumping to conclusions. The wiring has been carried out, to the CU in the out house, but nothing is connected. I am in first fix stage. Plasterboard is not going on until next week, which is why I am looking for an electrician now, to complete this element, so that in November...

Not too worried about these so much, as the cabling is still exposed and can be visually inspected. Nothing is connected at present. Its very much 1st fix cabling stage.

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

I have an invoice for the cable thats installed. And I can honestly say that the cable in the ducting is one complete length, as I was present when it was installed. Surely an undertaking along with proof would be enough. Also, wouldnt an enhanced continuity test prove that there were no...

John. In a perfect world I would go back to the original electricians, except that I don't know who they were! They were contracted to the groundworkers who excavated the garden and buried the piping where the cable went through. The groundworkers were also contracted to the main...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

Currently, every single piece of cable is visible, except for the one buried underground, which can be tested to everyones satisfaction, so I dont think that this will be a concern. Drainage has already been passed by building control. BAS. I would like to thank you for your very kind...

Apologies John, 140m is indeed a typo. It is 40m approx, and yes there is a separate 25mm earth cable. I've got 6 13 amp twin mains sockets 1 lighting circuit with 36w LED lighting 1 lighting circuit with 18w LED lighting 1 lighting circuit with 15w LED lighting 1 13 amp external...

Its 25mm, so it shouldn't be. However now that you say that, the run is 140m. If memory serves me right, there is a draw in one of the service ducts.....

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

No way Jose! This is being done come hell or high water in November, unless 18th edition comes out before then, in which case I'm screwed! Can you believe, this was started in January 2011! The plan was to add an out house at the end of the garden with 3 rooms. One for me when I was...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

The more I think about it, the more it doesnt make sense to me either. This was a conversation that was had 2 years ago! Worth considering, but I think that when this is tackled, I would like a refresh of the general electrics in the house. Its an old cottage. that has been cobbled together...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

I may be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that this is what they said. I've just had a look on the internet, and you can indeed buy 80A MCB's. BUT, surely this would impact the load on the CU in the main house. (Not too sure about this.) You are right. The process of changing a perfectly working...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

Hi, This does seem to be the path of least resistance in terms of interference from the main house. The items being used in the treatment room will mainly be the shower and heating in the winter. The lighting is all LED, and the balance of mains usage will be negligible in terms of laptop etc.

Riveralt. Perfect response. Many thanks. There isnt an isolator fitted at present. When the plan was drawn up, and the 1st fix took place, the electricians, did indeed carry out a load assessment. They did leave a copy of it, and I will have to locate it to make the second fix...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

John, I do understand the predicament, that you guys are in, and I do sympathise. I've seen the ramifications first hand to unsafe working practices, and negligent/substandard wiring. On many ocassions, I have walked my guys off site when the environment is not safe. With my situation, I...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

I am not unwilling, and I am certainly able, but please see the first paragraph of my post. It's advice I am seeking not a lesson. Also, there is absolutely no need for this sort of rhetoric behaviour. I am new to the forum, and did try to put my quotes and your quotes into some sort of...

    Secondary Consumer Units and Connectivity

John, Many thanks for your reply. I have seen BAS's posts and was expecting a similarly phrased response from him. I appreciate that there are all kinds of ridiculous and questionable posts from people that have no business wiring a plug let alone a consumer unit, and that by...
