The building inspector suggested extra insulation to build up the levels rather than paying for concrete, pay for insulation, the more insulation the better? I re checked the thickness and its more like 70mm of screed. I have now had the suspect screed ripped up and having a liquid...

Hi guys, had 35m2 of sand and cement screed put down in a new extension December 2013, we are just getting round to tiling quotes in. Problem is where the screed has cracked you can see movement of a couple of mm deflection when loaded. Naturally I'm a little concerned about this, does it...

Venting a breather membrane and condensation

Hi, Its going to be difficult to vent at the ridge as its monopitched. an over facia ventilator will work at the eaves. The VCL membrane was specific for the job but yes would have been punctured by the plasterboard fixings. There is also a taped layer of kingspan insulation after the VCL...

Update, Taken the plasterboard down and fitted a VCL taped and stapled to rafters, also ensuring all kingspan is foil taped etc, re installed plasterboard. Pushed back some tiles today and the underside of the cromar vent 3 light was still soaking wet, I first suspected a leak however the...

    Planning permission and ground level

Thanks, It was an enforcement officer who visited and then an enforcement letter stating we must apply for PP because of the raised ground level. Part of me thought to just apply as they surely cant reverse a signed off ground level?

    Planning permission and ground level

Thanks for the replies guys. I think they must have received a complaint as they turned up unannounced to have look when I wasn't here and the wife let them in, she is very worried by their letter. Is there any way they can force me to apply and further to that can they go back on an already...
