Our kitchen window will not open and I'm not quite sure how to free it. I have taken the glass out but the catch seems to have seized. Pic below. Any ideas?

I have recently had the lounge replastered apart from a small granite feature wall. However this has become a bit messy with unwanted plaster. What's the best way to get this off?
