    Noisy boiler

Thanks for info, interesting reading for an amateur like myself. A plumber guy from around the corner, brushed the burners down & that's all he did. Think as you say might be worth getting an expert in to give an opinion on the boiler. I would like to keep it if possible though. Another...

    Noisy boiler

Thanks again for your input. I've tried opening up the TRV, made no difference. Would in be worth draining the system & adding inhibitors? I did that around 2 years ago & used fernox boiler noise reducer for the general kettling sounds. Seemd to help for around 3 months, then back to...

    Noisy boiler

You wrote:- 1 Open the TRV to full on the nearest rad to the boiler but disregard the rad you mention below 2 Wilo pumps use the water as a lubricant and are not very tolerant of sludge. Is the pump the source of the noise? A better description of the noise would help. Sorry, what do you...

    Noisy boiler

I changed the pump myself, it's 3 speed & it's on 1 at the moment. When I tried turning the speed up the noise speeded up. This noise only occurs whilst the boiler is cold. All the rads in the house work fine & I drained the system last year & put thermo valves on all the rads apart from 1...

    Noisy boiler

Slugbaby, Thanks for your reply. I'd changed the pump 2 years ago. Have tried turning it up & the noise increases. I may try turning the stat down a little & see what happens. It's on 4 at the moment, I'll try turning it down to 3, at it goes up to 6. I want to...

    FORD KA HEATER FAN PROBLEM

Yep, as stated previously it's your heater blower resistor. Easy diy fix, should cost you less than £15 from dealer. I've only changed one on a Laguna, exact same fault, was situated behind glove box. This forum may help further & it's free to register:- http://www.myka.org/news.php

    Noisy boiler

Hi all, I own a 20 year + Vulcan conventional boiler. Had the burners & jets cleaned recently. Since I've had them cleaned, the boiler seems nosier than normal. When it's first turned on in the morning, sounds like a steam train. After around half an hour, then becomes quieter. This also...

Namsag, It's a stand alone Ideal Vulcan boiler, flu/chimney runs up the middle of house. I'm happy to keep it, as it has been totally reliable.

    Boiler servicing?

Giblets, The boiler is an Ideal Vulcan, sounds like something out of star trek :) Made in England, as well. The chimney stack/flue runs through the middle of my house. It was checked out 3 years ago by a Corgi guy & he said it was ok. Think he also checked the flu, possibly smoke test...

    Boiler servicing?

Hi all, I have a very old Vulcan conventional boiler, it's very reliable. I'm very happy with it. I changed the pump myself around 3 years ago when I first moved into my new house. Since then, it has never let me down. Basically I'm wondering if I should get a corgi reg...

MG ZR 105 loss of power (sometimes)

Does your engine management light illuminate within your dashboard when the prob occurs? If management light is on continuously, you could buy an OBD 2 code reader off fleadbay. I bought one & came with code book for less than £30. You plug it into your cars OBD 2 diagnostic port & it will read...

1999 Punto, oil leak from the top of engine to the sump

Joe, This is going back a few years for me. Just buy a new gasket (don't need anything else), don't over tighten alloy nuts. Nip up very lightly. OOPS, forgot, make sure joints are clean before re-fitting. Let me know how you get on. You'll be fine. George.

    Micra

I know with some Renaults the airbag connectors are situated under the two front seats. Not sure about Micra's? Might be worth checking under seats, see if there's a connector that has come loose? Can you reset your airbags? Turn the passengers side one off & on. Some cars you are able to...

    Could I claim off Ford??

Don't think you'll get anywhere with Ford. We have a 05 Ford KA (wifes car), bought it from new. Always had loads of play on the brake peddle (peddle used to touch pan of car when fully pressed down). Took it to a Ford main dealer when the car was 1 month old & they said there's nothing wrong...

1999 Punto, oil leak from the top of engine to the sump

Could be your rocker box gasket, easy diy fix. Just fit new gasket, that's if the oil is coming from the top of the engine, just below the plugs, then it could be your head gasket. Rusty sumps are common on those cars, I did one on a Punto & a head gasket in the past.
