    Flooring a garage loft?

Thanks, I think I'll mark out the joists and go with the thinner material, I'll be up there once a year probably and can reach most things stored up there without climbing in. It's not just the price of the wood, 18mm means more weight on the joist also and if I don't need it, why buy it?

    Flooring a garage loft?

I'm looking to floor the loft area at the back on my garage - the ceiling of the utility room below. I'm wondering what the thinnest material I can use for the job is? I can get two complete 8x4 sheets in there for the job as access is good. 11mm OSB?or 12mm ply? 18mm seems overkill as it...

    Garage insulation?

Good find, thanks! I googled the full "minitex 20 P" and that didn't come up... Air gap then, or it will end up like that! That's why I'm asking so many questions, insulation is so confusing! Even builders I had out to quote for it said different things, that's why I'm looking to do it myself...

    Garage insulation?

Ok, understood! Just one more question, the roof. (yip, I'm gonna mention air gaps again...) From the photo in the OP, there is a membrane in the roof already, battens and then the slates. Insulation right up against this also? Or do I need the... u know.... gap Thanks for your help, very...

    Garage insulation?

Ok so, what I'm getting from all this is that a good plan would be: outside wall Basic DPM - polythene sheet battens with insulation between - still with an air gap between the polythene and the insulation tape the joints anyway osb or ply sound good?

    Garage insulation?

Thanks for the reply. figured I'd leave the air gaps anyway, as I don't need the space and I will be heating it also. Was looking at upvc doors with air vents as well.... I'm just not sure now if I need to tape joints or not? As per the above plan?

    Garage insulation?

Ok, so moisture in a garage not a huge issue by the looks of it, how does this plan look then, in order to save time and money. Roof - Celotex inbetween the rafters, sealed with foam where needed. Thats it. No need to tape the joints? Nothing on top of it for now, could add another layer of...

    Garage insulation?

Thanks, I'll look into the sectional doors and the felt/wool option sounds easier. Should I leave an air gap between the exterior walls/roof and the celotex/wool? And if I tape up the joints in the celotex, I don't need a vapour barrier?

    garage lead guttering repair/replace?

Its a single slope gutter, going to go with an EPDM replacement and the timber looks good from what I can see. Funny you mention the tree, had it taken down yesterday, it was causing other issues as well. Thanks for the input.

    Garage insulation?

I've done an extensive search here, but still confused about how to proceed... Single block construction, pitched roof slated garage, rendered on the outside and painted. Looking to insulate my garage to make it more comfortable as a workshop and to prevent rust on tools etc. The roller...

    garage lead guttering repair/replace?

Bump for anymore thoughts on this. I had two more guys out to look at this. EDPM is significantly cheaper to replace this lead with and, from what I can find anyway, seems a very good option...

    garage lead guttering repair/replace?

Thanks, Its just a simple lead gutter, it runs off the end into a PVC down pipe. Hopefully the pics help. The leak issues are not near the downpipe, but in the middle of the guttering mostly. The company has plenty of good yell reviews and has a good rep but I thought the code might be a bit...

    garage lead guttering repair/replace?

Thanks, I'll research that option. Do you mean that if I can find the right size, I could install it without removing tiles etc?

    garage lead guttering repair/replace?

So, my garage and my neighbours are joined (pitched roofs) with the one lead gutter between. The gutter has quite a few wholes in it, has been patched up/welded repair in the past, but water is now leaking again and coming in through the garage wall. I'm wondering what the best options are to...

    Outside cracks and damp?

The vast majority of it, no. But yes, it does sound hollow in one small area, at least. The crack runs down a fair distance of the wall, as you can see...

    Outside cracks and damp?

Hi folks, hoping for some advice here... During the recent heavy rain, I noticed some water running into the house through the tiles at the back of my woodburner/chimney. The flue itself is bone dry, as is upstairs. It just seems to run through these tiles on the lower level and pool on the...
