Hi everyone I have an infrared bathroom heater which hasn’t been used much and a little while ago the pull cord snapped. So it being the long weekend I decided to tackle some of the smaller odd jobs needing doing around the house and last one is this. There is nothing functionally wrong...

Suitable inlet part for Water softener Overflow

Hi everyone I'm looking for some help / advice as to getting a water softener overflow pipe plumbed into the P-Trap The inlet for the washing machine is too big as the outside diameter of the pipe is probably 15-17mm and I'd like it to fit onto an outlet tightly and then use a jubilee clip to...

    LED On/Off Switch Issues…

It may be termed differently here but it is black & red 22 gauge wire- attached below is the image what I have used These switches are the ones that came with the wallbed & can’t be changed, similar ones shown below. Based on the rocker switches only having 2 terminals, is there anything we...

    LED On/Off Switch Issues…

I do understand 2 way wiring, Com/L1/L2 etc but the issue is the LED wiring used in this setup is 2 core 22AWG red & black cable and there are only 2 terminals on the back of the rocker switch to connect to - maybe should’ve stated this at the start but therein lines my issue - there is no...

    LED On/Off Switch Issues…

Evening all I recently put back together for some friends, the wall-beds had 2 spot lights controlled by 2 switches either side of the bed. Since hooking everything back together the lights don’t seem to be working together (or as they were as my friend has said). One side (let’s say LHS)...

    Head of Window Sill leaking

Unfortunately there’s no access into the roof as it is a rear 2 storey addition to the main house. Agree gutters probably not helping but this is an issue which has reared its head a few times now. I’m reticent to putting a lot of money into a new roof as I plan to do a loft conversion next year

    Head of Window Sill leaking

Thanks for the replies Really shocked to hear those tiles aren’t suitable, I’ve had the place 15 years and various roofers out, none of them have ever said the pitch is too low for them so quite surprised to hear this I was ask the roofer whenever he gets over. I was always under the...

    Head of Window Sill leaking

I’ve got a bad leak with water coming through the top of a window head (reveal?), water is dripping down right from where the silver trim is It’s on the rear addition of the property. Gutter are fine, I’ve got cavity / felt support / eaves trays in place and the tiling looks good up there I...

Wiring 8 P2B switches for cupboards

Hi guys Thought I’d tackle the lack of storage in the attic by creating some doors for under eaves cupboards. Wanting to have lighting triggered by P2B switches, I did something similar for stairs cupboard but they’re all wired separately With these I’d like the full led strip turned on...

Lead flashing into EWI wall on side return

I think he means to use the silicone to hold the flashing in place, not instead of the flashing, but I’ve always seen rolled up lead being wedged in between the chased out area & then the lead sealant used

Lead flashing into EWI wall on side return

Yea my main concern isn’t about creating the channel to slot the flashing into place, it’s what is going to hold it in place is what’s troubling me, I’ve seen the grey silicone used before- I think it’s a lead based sealant and not standard silicone although I could be wrong

Lead flashing into EWI wall on side return

That may be doable & I’ll see what can be done to move the pipes but what to do about the EWI & securing the flashing?

Lead flashing into EWI wall on side return

That’s the issue, the clips have been covered by the render and as such the pipe can’t be moved Is there anything else that can be done?

Lead flashing into EWI wall on side return

Hi everyone I’m wanting to get lead flashing installed over poly sheets for a covering I’ve made over a side return at the back of my house. I’ve asked quite a few roofers but none are willing to take the job on due to the soil stack (which doesn’t look like it van be disconnected) The...
