Thanks for replying. Yes it is marine ply. I have left the gap around the edges - should I also leave gaps where the separate boards of ply meet?

What do you mean by the new insulation butting up to the floor area? Are you saying the insulation should not go under the new boards I lay? Is there a problem if it does? No water tank to worry about as we have a combi boiler. The rest of your advice makes sense - thanks for that.

Civicwalker - Please could you clarify how the new timbers are fitted to the existing? I'm assuming because you purchsed 100mm you fitted these directly along the length and on top of the existing timbers to acheive the new height of approx 200mm? Many thanks.
