    Electric to outdoor utility room

This would indeed be quite difficult. The CU is in the centre of the house and it will mean considerable upheaval to thread a cable through the house. On the subject of a separate Consumer Unit on the utility room, wouldn’t this be beneficial from an isolation point of view? It could have 3...

Window with stains in between glass panes

Thanks for all the responses. Are you able to suggest a ball-park cost for this unit? I can remove/fit myself.

Window with stains in between glass panes

Thanks guys. I've read the above a few times but struggling to take it in. The stains within the glass unit were not there from the outset and have developed over the last 12 months. Window was fitted 5 years ago. I am comfortable to remove the beading and measure pane. The above suggests that...

    Rusty window hinge

Thanks. I've seen a few YouTube videos and will give it a go. Wish it was ground floor as opposed to the first floor. Will move my car, just in case! I was going to get the hinges from Screwfix, unless you advise a different type.

Window with stains in between glass panes

The water stains are within the panes of glass. Not on the outer or inner pane. Hope that makes sense. If this isn’t repairable, would measuring the thickness tell me whether it’s double or triple glazed?

Window with stains in between glass panes

This window has dry water marks within the glass. I assume it needs to be replaced and I think it’s triple glazed but was unsure. Can someone identify this from these images? Also, I was planning to remove the edging and measure the actual glass before I order. Is that the recommended approach?

I can get 410 from screwfix. Will they be okay?

    Rusty window hinge

Ah yes. I see what you mean. Is it normal for water to collect in this area of the window or does this indicate a fault? Where can I get a replacement hinge and are they a standard size? Thanks for your help.

What rating MCB at source would benefit from a CU?

    Electric to outdoor utility room

For my understanding, if I was coming off a 16amp MCB, then I would benefit from an additional CU? Thanks for your help.

Makita site radio keeps losing the radio presets

This happens every time I remove the battery. If I leave the battery in the radio and power down, it’s fine. Can you please advise.

    Rusty window hinge

Do you know why it’s rusted? The other side is completely dry.

    Electric to outdoor utility room

I am happy to come out of the ring in the house into a FCU and then from here outdoors with a SWA (2.5 or 4mm?). I would then add a CU in the utility of it meant that any overload/fault will be handled here, rather than trip the circuit in the house.

Could the CU in the utility room avoid the house fuse tripping?

    Rusty window hinge

We rarely use this window. When I opened recently, I noticed this rust, broken screw head. Need to understand why this is rusted and how I fix this. I thought it may just need a new screw but the bit in the corner isnt pulling the window in and hence, there’s always a gap in the bottom right...

    Electric to outdoor utility room

The 2.5mm cable I was referring to was for the existing Ring Circuit in the house. I can take my supply in 4mm SWA if that's what you suggest? I thought you were going to say that this was woefully inadequate and I really need a new circuit from the CU in the house. That's promising. On...

    Electric to outdoor utility room

I am planning on building an outdoor utility room out of timber and would like to put the following in it: - couple of lights - fridge freezer - tumble dryer - washing machine Not all will be running at the same time. I can fit a shed Consumer Unit to keep things tidy. My question relates to...

    Screws for timber framing

These have flanges. In places, the screws need to be flush with the timber. Do I need to use a spade bit there? Wanted to check if I’m looking at the right thing. Thanks for your detailed (and graphic) response earlier.
