Help to understand quotes for new system boiler

What is the reason for this in the second quote - Do you have steep pipework by any chance or a one pipe system ? HEATING CIRCUIT IN SMALL-BORE (15 & 22mm) A two pipe accelerated small-bore system, using copper pipe to BS 2871 and Hep2O plastic pipe to BS 2791, concealed beneath the 1st floor...

    Magnaclean 28mm Leaking Again

My Magnaclean filter 28mm is about six months old - I replaced it already once in January and I can see that it is leaking from the isolation valves again Is this normal? It was bought brand new and I wonder now if I should get a brass filter Previously I was told that these magn filters...

Airlock on part of central heating system after drain down - One pipe system

I drained it down twice and there is still an airlock on one horizontal pipe which is so annoying Anything else I can do before a plumber has to come (who will probably say he cant do anything because the pipe is steel and not copper)

    Soil Pipe Joint

It does not look like it is leaking but I worry that if I take off the flashband then I will expose a leak and I prefer to tape over to give it a further level of protection Is there no waterproof tape that can be applied over joints ?

    Soil Pipe Joint

Should I really be using flashband on this soil pipe or is there a better tape to wrap round the joints just in case there is a leak before its decorated and boxed in

    Soil Pipe Joint

My sister had a leak and opened the box around the soil pipe - It looks like it was repaired before and the leak was from a loos joint. Is there any tape that can be used around the joints before the box is put back? Is gaffer tape suitable to provide a tight water seal? I tried the self...

Risk of leaks on a combi conversion?

I have steel 2 inch pipework and also very worried about this as well - Can pipiework irrespetive of copper or steel be pressure tested? Would old school pegler TRVs also be able to handle 2 bar sealed pressure I am told that open vent pressure is something like 0.1 bar so its 20 times as...

Airlock on part of central heating system after drain down - One pipe system

Airlock on part of central heating system after drain down - One pipe system

I drained down my one pipe system for boiler test and when refilled the central heating is only partly working - I can see one horizontal pipe that feeds the radiators that feels cold and I am sure it is an airlock. Is it advisable to drain down and refill with the hope this might clear the...

    30Kw Heat Only Boiler

Thank you - can I ask what type of property would require a 30KW open vent boiler in that case? Manufacturesr clearly make them so who is buying them Here is what the engineer who visited a long time ago on a paid visit wrote "The existing boiler has a maximum heat input rating of 45Kw...

    30Kw Heat Only Boiler

I would be keen to understand more about this - Are you saying that a 13Kw heat boiler is good for your house of 4 beds and three bathroom which is poorly insulated? Did you repipe the house or just boiler change? This souonds like my house with a boiler in outhouse but the only difference is...

    30Kw Heat Only Boiler

Thank you - Heat loss calcs are being obtained 1) I also have many single glazed wood windows Would the one pipe system not kean towards a much higher boiler ouput? The intergas heat only can be range rated all the way down apparently so a 30Kw can act as a lower boiler if needed If I dont...

    30Kw Heat Only Boiler

I am having my boiler changed from an Ideal Mexico 2 boiler (which apparently was 36Kw) I was told that a 30Kw heat only boiler is the minimum size I need because a) The boiler is in an out house b) I have a one pipe system so need red hot water on the flow which will come back cold Is...

Conflicting Opinions - a Low Loss Header or not?

I am in a similar situation and wanted to replace my Ideal floor standing boiler. @Chris43 1) Did the boiler work out well in the end for you? 2) Was the plate exchanger neccessary? 3) Any issues with the boiler being in a boiler house and was it outside in the elements? Would be great...
