    Accelerating a Cold Compost Heap

Thanks all for the suggestions -- too many to reply to individually. I accept the type of heap I've built is going to take a while but ideally need to speed it up. I've stopped adding to it now and have just added lots of cardboard on the top. I turn it every week to get plenty of new air in...

    Accelerating a Cold Compost Heap

Last Summer I decided to make use of food scraps, cardboard and grass clippings by creating a compost bin. The primary reason was to avoid the annual expenditure on compost, but also because it's a better use of waste material (including all of the 'spent' compost come Autumn). The set up is...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

In my driving experience, I let any scenarios or incidents play out in front of me. If a driver cuts me up or moves into my lane leaving an unsafe gap, I just back off the throttle and drop back. Similarly, I won’t engage with gestures thrown towards me and try to ‘fix’ situations caused by...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

Yes, have to pay the cost of the course. Guessing from a quick search it’ll be around £80 - £100 (haven’t yet logged on to find out). I’n tempted to ring them cop shop just to ask if they’d reviewed the evidence which would have shown tailgating and inappropriate use of the main beam.

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

Update… I’ve been offered an NDORS course. No points and no fine (apart from the ‘cost’ of the course). Bit of a result.

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

Thanks for the insight. If they do submit it whole, it’ll show them speed up to my rear, tailgate for a bit then go for the overtake, then drop back in flick the main beam on and tailgate before dropping back off.

Hopefully the driver hasn’t trimmed his footage to only show the overtake. Until I get a response I’ll try to forget about it all. Can always phone them if I get a decision against me and ask them to consider whether any footage covers before and after the overtake.

All sent off now. I’ll see what they come back with now I’ve confirmed it was me who was driving. Scanned and emailed which they’ve confirmed receipt of. I’d not mentioned it so far on here (in honesty hadn’t noticed it) but the letter refers to “section 3 of the road traffic act”. A quick...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

Thanks for all the replies — genuinely! I’ve been looking on a few sites. None have a case like mine but some mention careless driving for one reason or another. Change of mind again… I’m going to leave the box blank. I’ll give them the information they need and then just await their reply...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

I think I’m just going to state I can’t fully recall the event, and wish to see evidence to ensure I don’t make false statements. I’m not going to put in a request separately as I’m going to play dumb — the letter mentions nothing about needing to do this. I’ll just tell them I need to see any...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

Thank you, that’s taught me some things I didn’t realise about the process. As you’ll imagine, my wanting to admit guilt now is based purely on trying to put this to bed ASAP. If I go with just stating the basics, to confirm it was me in the car, what do you think I should put in the final box...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

The date and time referenced is at exactly the time I know this event happened and the letter also states “preventing an overtake”. The model of Tesla it was is the same as a few friends I know with them. Theirs have 5 cameras for all-round visibility (front, side and rear). Ultimately it’ll...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

It asks for my account of the alleged event. I have to provide something.

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

I see what you’re saying, but it asks for my account of the events so it’ll be hard not to put something which doesn’t at least incriminate me. I don’t know how to word me pulling onto the other side of the road to prevent an overtake. I’d be confident in saying the prosecution relies entirely...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

With the help of a number of people on here, I’ve decided to just admit I was in the wrong (as I was). The road is a straight B road and I was not overtaking anything. The car is a Tesla and has multiple cameras so it’ll show plain as day what happened. I’ve got a clean license of over 15 years...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

No but it was a Tesla and they have multiple cameras. At this stage the letter is just asking to confirm my details before a potential prosecution. From the wording the local police force have not yet made a decision, but knowing what the cameras will have recorded it’s pretty obvious which way...

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

I think I’ll re-write it and go with this. I am genuinely regretful about it, so I’ll just grovel to them. Do things like this go to court as standard?

No, written up and ready to send.

Sadly I cannot use this angle as their camera will prove otherwise. There was traffic ahead, but a good distance away.

    Driving Offence — Intended Prosecution

For the record, I know I’m in the wrong and that my decision to prevent the overtake was foolish. I always just let these things play out, for some reason this just got to me. Worst of all it happened on my birthday..! The letter I’ve received states that I was reported for the “question of a...
