Your reply is apt and very timely. I had contacted a reputed firm here which do Structural Engg surveys and consulting. They called me up and after going through the specifics that this job is simple, as door width is normal and thus, does not requires any structural engg survey, any 'decent'...
Hi,
Our kitchen being in the front of the house, has its door facing the entrance hallway. Whilst deciding to upgrade the kitchen, we thought of moving the door to the adjacent wall which will then link it to the living room.
I have had several builders come and all said it's easy to move by...
It is cork tiles (googled it now)!
How do I lay normal Porcelin tiles over it? As I mentioned, this cork tiles floor is bit low and needs to be raised up, then only I can put the Porcelin tiles. What can I use to achieve that?
Hi folks,
Am planning to tile my cloak room floor, so ripped out my old capret (yes, it had carpet there!) and the underlay. There's a subfloor made of wood, which seems to be glued to the concrete floor underneath. I don't want to pry it out, very messy. So, how to I even the floor - can't lay...
Tried with a couple, 2 of them came out with some effort (alongwith some plaster), but others are refusing to budge, even if I hammer them from both sides to loosen them up. Just too many of them to individually pry them out, i'll have to try the angle grinder i guess.
And they don't seem to...
Awesome, never know such thing existed, thanks for the quick reply :)
Managed to pry one out and its almost 100mm in length! With one placed every 0.5m, some in unreachable place behind pipes, not sure I can use an angle grinder. What's the easiest way to pry them out without damaging much of...
Hi,
In this lockdown I decided to replace the carpet near the downstairs cloark room with a laminate floor. For that, I thought it'll be easy to get rid of the old skirting boards and put in new ones, I like them better them putting trims.
However, taking out one of the skirting boards, it took...
Hi,
Want to get some advice here. I have a room with old Parquet flooring, polishing etc won't help much and it's also very old design. I was thinking of getting Karndean put on top of it. But someone told me its not a good idea as we should not put one floor over another, as both got to...
No manufacturer name on the tap or shower :(
And that would make things even more difficult as I have no clue how to replace that tap, do I need to partially disassemble the tub to access the lock nuts for the tap?
Hi guys,
The diverter in the hand shower in my bathroom is stuck and refuses to budge. Wanted to get inputs on how to fix, or better replace it without replacing the whole tap and shower unit.
Attached is a pic of it.
Thanks
Just wanted to get back on this, I was able to fix this with a 10 mm dowel and wood glue, the whole thing worked a charm!
Thanks a bunch for the inputs guys! :)
Hi Mike,
Those plates seem to be for the cabinet side screw holes, my problem is on the door side. I don't want to cover the mounting cup hole, just the screw holes adjoining it.
Also, the second option might not work too as the new hinge screws are not exactly aligned to the old holes, they...
Thanks folks! A little bit hard pull with a chisel gave it away. It indeed had two plastic lugs holding it in place.
Now I have another problem: the plastic lugs have left a rather large hole in it and the new hinges I want to install have their screw positions right on the edge of that hole...
:)
Thanks, will give it another try. I've been using a chisel I borrowed off a friend. It doesn't looks too strong. Would you recommend any other tool for it? Or just a stronger chisel?
Am able to get the door out by unscrewing the hinges as shown in the pic. But, the plastic mount-cup on the door has no screws on it. I tried my best to pry it out of position, but no luck. It does not moves or spins.
Any easy way to get that out?
Hi,
Am trying to replace my cabinet hinges as they are very old. However the mounting cups of those don't have any screws, but are press on plastic cups. I have no clue how to take them out, I tried everything but they seem stuck.
Is there a way to take them out easily? Attaching image of...
