    Potterton Profile 60e not firing.

Thanks for the suggestion but the button is up. The fan runs as normal, you can see the ignition sparking but the boiler won’t ignite. Just happened all of a sudden.

    Potterton Profile 60e not firing.

Judging by the price paid, it was a pattern. The proper boards are a fortune.

Hello, Before I call the boiler repair company, can you give me a heads up on what potential issues may be at fault. Potterton 60e boiler that in the last couple of years has had a new fan and circuit board. Working fine up to last night, then noticed in the early hours the house was cold...

    Cold water tank mysteriously filling

Hello. Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction? I have a Sundial Y-plan sealed system at home, with a three-port valve. Been here 30 years and it's regularly serviced and maintained. Never really had issues. The boiler is a Potterton Profile 60e also serviced yearly. A couple of...

Negative head pump needed or not?

Hello guys, a quick query which I'm certain you'll answer. I'm remodelling our en-suite and the better half wants a "proper shower" to replace the current electric model. The room is on the top floor of a town house and the cold water and hot water tanks are in a cupboard next to the...

    Potterton Profile 50e

The boiler has recently developed an issue with it tripping a minute or so after shutting off and me having to re-set the button under the bottom panel. Had a Gas Safe engineer in and he recommends replacing the boiler stat, the pump over-run stat and the overheat stat. His diagnosis was...

    Potterton Netaheat 50e re-igniting

I've an issue with my faithful old Potterton 50e boiler. It works well I've had few problems during its 18 years life. Suddenly however, an issue has arisen. When it's fired up, a relay inside intermittently clicks and it tries to re-light itself, even though its already alight. It's like the...

    Fixing concrete posts

My fence sits on a 1 metre high retaining wall with the timber posts held in place by coach bolts into concrete posts. These badly need replacing and I'd like to use concrete posts this time. My question is: Is it possible to drill holes through these posts without them disintegrating? I'd...

    Potterton 50e replacement boiler

Yes it's a Netaheat. Was new when I moved in 20 years ago. Surely something more efficient is on the market now? Even if I can't get the grant, I'm going to replace it. Any recommendations appreciated.

    Potterton 50e replacement boiler

I've a Potterton 50e boiler operating for nearly 20 years and has run like a wristwatch. It's recently been making a few unusual noises, one being the fan bearings, so with the government incentives available, I'm considering a replacement. Can any of you guys recommend a suitable boiler which...

    Strange colour and fizzing

I've been bleeding the radiators to get the central heating up and ready for the winter (sundial Y sealed system). I usually pressure up to 1.5/2 bars and go round all the rads (with system off). The pressure usually drops to 1 bar by the time I'm finished or I just let out some more until it's...

    Honeywell 3 port valve issue

Hi guys, A few months ago I upgraded my room thermostat to a CM67 and boiler timer control to a ST6400C Programmer. The system seems to have gone haywire, but the wiring I believe is correct. (I took pics to compare the wiring before and after). With the HW only on via the boiler timer, the...

Best type of shower to fit

I live in a 3 storey town house with a main bathroom on the middle floor and an en-suite top floor. I've a power shower in the middle bathroom, works fine no problems. I'd like to convert the en-suite to a wet room and my question is what type of shower will be best to install. I'd like another...

    False chimney breast

Thanks for the advice. Under normal circumstances i'd use plasterboard, but it's got to support a heavy TV so I thought MDF would give far more strength.

    False chimney breast

Hi guys, I'm in the process of decorating the lounge, and "the misses" wants a false chimney breast to house the flat screen TV etc. The build is easy enough, framing out of 3"x 2" and I was going to use MDF to enclose the frame for strength. My query is this. I want to paper the...

    Dummy chimney

I assumed that was best, but thanks for confirming it. Do I have to do anything to the plasterboard because of the heat of the fire when switched on? I don't want a fire risk.

    Dummy chimney

Hi Guys and Gals, I want to build a dummy chimney breast in my 1st floor lounge as a focal point and mount one of those contemporary wall hung type electric fires. Does anyone have any tips, recommended materials to use? Shouldn't be too difficult but any suggestions appreciated.

    Leaking automatic air vent

Hi Guys and gals, I've got a problem with my new Honeywell automatic air vent valve (EA 122). A plumber some time ago when installing a power shower said my old one was shot (had a type of car tyre valve on the top) and replaced it with another type. This one leaked so after a chat...
