It's a double ended bath with the taps going in the middle of the long side. If I drill through the batten it will only be through half of it if you see what I mean. The tails are too short when you look at fitting the flexible connectors to it.

I have come to drill the holes on a new bath and found a wooden batten under the rim with goes all the way around the bath, presumably to strengthen it. What I would like to know is do I need to remove this batten where the tap is going to go or just drill straight throug it? Many thanks.
