    aquavac pro 100

hi folks, anyone have one of these? I acquired one a few years back and apart from being incredibly noisy it's a great vacuum. However, I've never used it for wet work. I was never given a manual by the person who passed it on to me so I've no idea how to use it for wet. Presumably it can't...

coolant brown colour - need changing?

Hi folks, For my sins I have a Rover 100, M reg (i.e. a re-badged metro). The coolant is looking somewhat discoloured - a kind of brown colour, not especially brown or muddy but not a "clean" colour. Should I replace it? AFAIK it has never been replaced in the 11 or so years life of...

Was chatting to my auntie yesterday and she said she had a problem with her expansion tank overflowing recently, plumber charged £110/hr! Is this a typical price? If so I'm glad we're renting and that the landlord has to pay for all the work!

Mains voltage 245V! Will my appliances be damaged?

Given that the domestic mains voltage here in the UK is supposed to be 230V I am bit concerned that I'm measuring the household mains supply to be around 245V. Having a sustained voltage this high can't be doing the household appliances an awful lot of good, and will presumably shorten their...

any side effects to breaking the connection at the tv aerial

Current we have a loft aerial that is hard-wired (at the aerial end) with old, cheap "low-loss" coax cable to the downstairs socket. The cable makes a journey of about 8 metres so I believe replacing it with CT100 would improve signal quality significantly. Not wanting the replace the loft...

dirt on wall above boiler - should I be worried

I've noticed some dirty marks on the wall above our (wall mounted) boiler -- should I be concerned -- could this be fumes somehow escaping from the boiler. Oddly the worst mark doesn't go straight up but at about 25 degrees off the vertical from the top of the boiler.

how to change a junior hacksaw blade

Kinda a stupid question I know but I have a really cheap junior hacksaw, the kind that is just a metal frame, like this: http://www.foxdiy.co.uk/view_product.php?product=TL326 but can't for the life of me get the new blade to go in. I have tried squeezing the handle together with a pair of...
