    Just bought old house in Yorkshire dales. There is some penetrating damp in wall of one of bedrooms. What's best way to solve issue ? Tanking or external sealing of whole wall. Pointing is fine and no obvious problems. Advice appreciated.

    Tank or external barrier

    I have a first floor flat with a problem of penetrating damp. Everything has been checked, rainwater goods, pointing etc. Someone has suggested tanking the flat. However, I would prefer not to have the upheaval. Would an external cost of sealant do the job as well ?
