    Securing Evohome DHW thermostat

Hi not at home at the moment so no can’t do on the photo. The cylinder is completely as installed with the duel stat in the lower pocket. I have temporarily secured the evo stat in the upper sensor pocket (obviously will read a higher temp in this location - ideally if this is the control stat...

    Securing Evohome DHW thermostat

Hi all, Hoping you can offer some advice. My heating system consists of a Worcester Greenstar 24ri and a Worcester Greenstore unvented DHW cylinder in a S Plan system. I have recently installed an Evohome system, so am controlling both zone valves via wireless relays (BDR91s) and using a...

    Confirming continuity of earth

Thanks, I understand the difference between the two. Resistance is dc, impedance ac. Anyways like I said happy!

    Confirming continuity of earth

Yup but do t have the equipment to induce an ac current and test the impedance so this will have to do!

    Confirming continuity of earth

Just a quick thank you for those who have helped in this topic. I’ve now tested the resistance of my cpc from CU, R2, to all metal fixtures, maximum reading of 0.7 ohms so very happy. Obviously don’t have the equipment to test the impedances but I think that satisfies me

    Confirming continuity of earth

Cheers Eric, actually got an advanced socket tester. Went for the SOK36 which supposedly has surpassed the Martindale?

    Confirming continuity of earth

Thank you for the concern Rocky, although I’m not qualified to discuss the intricacies of electrics, I’m mindful of my own safety and that off my family and would not attempt work that is not allowable under Part P or that I do not have the expertise to carry out. Saying this I know enough to...

    Confirming continuity of earth

Thanks again all just to summarise, measuring voltage between phase and CPC at the switch will give me an indication that there is a route to earth - great, big tick - however resistance is an important consideration and I’d still get a reading of 230-240V whether it was 1ohm or 1000ohm, the...

    Confirming continuity of earth

Haha, too many options. Thanks Jon. Another option, isolating power to CU, connecting lighting ring phase to CPC at CU and them testing resistance between L and CPC at switch???

    Confirming continuity of earth

Ok, thanks all. The CU doesn’t appear to have an exposed earth so for simplicity’s sake I’ll test resistance between the switches CPC and an adjacent plug sockets earth. Thanks

    Confirming continuity of earth

Thanks for the responses guys. Novice question here but would measuring the voltage between the L1 and CPC not give an indication that there was continuity of the CPC, I.e should show 240v approx. If the CPC was not connected it would show 0V?

    Confirming continuity of earth

OK, great. Thanks for the response. I’ve no reason to suspect there wouldn’t be continuity but we’ve just moved in and with kiddies running around want to be doubly sure. Cheers

    Confirming continuity of earth

Hi, I’m replacing some of my light switches with metal face plates, before I do I’d just like to confirm the continuity of the earth to the back box. I don’t have the equipment or expertise to perform a full continuity test from the CU so I just wondered if there is anyway I can do this for...

    Replacing floorboards

Hi, I need to replace a run of 2 floorboards in my landing as the heating pipes have been laid in such a way that it is impossible to screw down the inside edges of the set of two. This is causing the inside edges to rise and creak when stepped on. I originally tried laying 18mm external ply...
