MFI website causing my PC memory problems.

Do you have the latest patches for your OS and the latest version of IE. Smells like a massive memory leak. It may not be IE or your OS but a possible Java applet usng an older version which is killing IE. Jon.

Portable Air Conditioning units!! - Beware

You are right, it normally gets rid of the moisture via the hot air vent but when the humidity really shoots up thats where the problem started. I must also point out that it doesn't mention in the manual how much water it can remove  I have never had a problem with it before. It...

Portable Air Conditioning units!! - Beware

Hi All, I thought i would post this up as info for anyone with one of the above units before you end up with a destroyed wood floor like i have. Check out the amount of moisture your unit can remove from the air in 24 hours, most have a drain valve like mine however the maths can be scary...

    any sailors

I totally agree that they are not of much use if you are knocked unconcious and that a lifejacket is the belts and braces solution. Although very few people seem to use lifejackets IMO, mainly all buoyancy aids as they are far less restrictive and bulky. Jon.

    any sailors

Hi, The way you are thinking re full lifejackets for the kids makes sense for the reasons pointed out before they will put you face up in the water. Buoyancy aids are fine if you can swim. I don't know what previous experience you have sailing but i would strongly recommend joining a...

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are the 2 High Def DVD formats, players for both are scheduled for later in the year but as anything at launch will be very expensive. The Playstation 3 will use Blu-Ray. As for your HDMI input there are switches that you can get to be able to input more than 1 HD device...

What Mitre Saw for cutting Skirting Boards

Hi, I got my DW707 from DM Tools: http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/section//sn/DEW707AVL A few quid more than the link big-all posted without the jacket but it does come with the leg stands so you don't have to work on the floor.

    Sky+ Box

Yes, i replaced the HDD in my Sky+ box about a year ago and put in a Maxtor 160GB drive. I had early problems due to heat, disabling instant rewind solved the problem as the HDD doesn't run constantly. The main problem is that the Sky+ boxes are a bit choosy about which drives they like...

    VMware Browser Appliance

I haven't tried that particular variant. However i do use VMWare on this machine to run upto 6 Windows 2003 Servers in Windows on an XP host. It's very reliable, i wouldn't have thought it would take up much memory either so shouldn't slow the main system performance. Lets face it, it's...

Ants, Ants and more flaming Ants !

One that i have used in the kitchen for the last few years works well, just mix some caster sugar and bicarbonate of soda 50\50 and put it on a saucer somewhere out of the way. The sugar attracts them, then they eat the bicarb and explode :)

    Bl***y thing!!

Hi Guys, I'm back.... Firstly i hope your PC is still OK UKDAN. Secondly i feel that i owe Softus an apology. Having read back through the thread and not knowing you or your posting nature i feel that i totally over reacted to your comments. Unfortunately after the week i had had i...

    Bl***y thing!!

Yeah, if it was my PC i would rid the MOBO. However i'm just trying to help the guy to exhaust all the non cost fixes before going down that route. Regarding point 1, The BIOS has memory related settings in it regarding timing etc which are sent to the memory controller IIRC, however the cut...

    Bl***y thing!!

Probably not, i suspect that you have formatted the volume as NTFS so a standard MS-DOS cannot read that format. Right, here goes: Copy the files that you extracted to C:\newbios to another floppy, they are only 303K so will fit no problem. Boot from your MS-DOS disk and then put the...

    Bl***y thing!!

That's not a problem. Right, the correct BIOS update for your computer is as follows: http://www1.medion.de/downloads/download.pl?id=245&type=treiber&filename=biomd5kv11.exe&lang=uk As regards extracting to E: just ignore that, i have amended their instructions below which should help...

    Bl***y thing!!

That shouldn't make a difference, thats just the rated speed. If you put 133 in a machine that want's 400 you would have a problem. Jon.

    Bl***y thing!!

I have just been doing some more research into your problem and have found out the following: That board supports a maximum of 2Gb of RAM. The BIOS on that board is a cut down version of the normal one supplied by MSI, in particular it doesn't have a lot of the memory settings re timing...

    Bl***y thing!!

Hi, I have just read your original thread re replacement memory etc and pretty much everything has been covered. The only thing i can think of seeing as you have tried a few different types of memory with the same results it may not be the memory itself causing the problem. What BIOS...
