what unwanted things regularly get into your garden?

RABBITS.............. They eat literally anything!! Even Raspberry leaves, Chives, any flowers, some weeds but they do seem to avoid nettles. We used to have a stray cat around the gardens that kept them down but we seem to have lost him to a fox who we saw around for a while but now he too...

What have you been doing today?

Put up a curtain rail onto a dreaded concrete lintel, always had trouble in the past with my normal hammer drill doing this with holes wandering and blunted bits so decided to finally invest in an SDS drill. OMG went in as if the lintel was butter and almost no wander! Also chipped off the...

    Changing energy suppliers

They certainly did not a year ago when I left them, as noted in my other post they kept trying to overcharge me to gain excessive credit, not once did they bill me for what I actually owed.

    Changing energy suppliers

Just to add my pound of flesh, I was with Octopus, inherited them after house move however mine was a very very bad experience that I never wish to repeat. I have smart meters for both gas & E and also had in my old house. Despite me telling them exactly how much energy I used a year they kept...

    GJD 710 interference from vehicles

So have you done all the usual stuff like tested the same network from the same location using your phone ?

What have you been doing today?

Doing some structural timber work for solar panels and discovered I had run out of long coach bolts. So in an emergency off to B&Q, not much choice so I bought what they had. Absolutely useless, soft as butter, broke clean off where shank joins thread whilst screwing in, tried to get the remains...

Security camera - recommend one please

I have to ask what PC ? There is no PC involved here, I have also used Wireshark on them and they basically ping the server and that's it until you want to make a remote connection then they are given the connection data to the remote client from the server, after that video streaming starts...

Security camera - recommend one please

I get your point BUT it's only while I am watching it on an external network AND TBH our lives are so mundane I can see no interest from anybody anyway lols. In any case it's either that or open up your router, go figure the bigger security risk!

    To Paper or Not?

How are you going to make good over chasework if it has lining paper on it ?? Doesn't sound very practicable to me, better left as bare plaster then at least it will be easy to make good with a level finish.

Cutting up (and getting rid of) a cold water storage tank in the loft.

Reminds me of a Victorian house I once had with a big galvanised steel tank someone had left up there that I wanted to remove to make the space usable, scared of fire I resorted to a club hammer and bolster, bloody noisy and took a long time!!

Security camera - recommend one please

Ahh that's the beauty of there system, no open ports!! it relies upon a Reolink server (no subscription) so you can leave your firewall untouched! Works with Android and Apple. I should add I have been having a ding-dong battle with Reolink recently after they released software that had not...

Security camera - recommend one please

Well then you don't need storage and robin above is right they usually have 12V sockets as well, I had forgotten that. Beware buying old obsolete stock from bay etc, I didn't know Reolink were still producing 5Mpix cameras

Security camera - recommend one please

Well you need something to provide POE (48V) I use a POE Ethernet switch as I have many POE camera's but you can also get single channel injectors but watch the cost, a switch might be cheaper. Other than that you can use either and SD card for storage within the camera or some kind of networked...

Security camera - recommend one please

I use Reolink (have 6), depends what you call cheap, generally you get what you pay for! If you want evidence from a reasonable distance I would not go below 8Mpixels.

    Can I do this

NO YOU ARE WRONG AGAIN............... Why do you insist on muddying the waters, I already told you to think again. Stop confusing the OP with your misunderstanding of transistors! I suggest you go away and build yourself an experimental circuit or try LTspice.

    Can I do this

I am afraid you are wrong......think about it harder! VCE cannot drop below VBEon else the transistor will switch off. So VCE is regulated at VBEon & the CE junction does not and cannot saturate.

Decoding consumer unfriendly certification labels on frames

Unknown to me my clever wife took a photo of exactly that label! I only found out after going around in circles for days if not weeks! I should have asked her in the first place lols Anyway next time I will be armed (with camera) & ready!

    Can I do this

Almost but that is a very low current capacity diode, much better to use C & E but tie the base to the collector! Then as vbe reaches 0.6V the collector will sink excess current rather than it all passing through the base.

Decoding consumer unfriendly certification labels on frames

Many thanks for being nice when I was not, I honestly thought you must be speaking crap for the fun of it but I owe you an apology. It seems if anything is crap it is the DG we are being sold, if the gas does indeed leak from the unit in as little as 4 years the whole industry is misleading the...

Decoding consumer unfriendly certification labels on frames

Shame you pollute threads by spouting CRAP, according to at least one source leakage is <1% per year.
