    Geek Wars!

The other thread on heat pump cylinders led me to this Heat Geek video, where Mr Heat Geek seems to be having a pretty major dig at the Mixergy cylinder's suitability for heat pumps. I don't pretend to understand it all. I know that Heat Geek have recently launched their own range of heat pump...

    Minor storm damage

Detached two storey house with gable roof. After the recent storms we have noticed one ridge tile clip that has come loose and is pointing up vertically. House is 25 years old and roof has never had any work. Photo below shows roof design. Will it need scaffolding? How urgent is this to fix...

    CombiPack 4 settings

Merchant recommended this. Just watched a video showing all the settings. Default seems to be hysteresis with option to choose TPI? Does hysteresis give good control on CP4 or would it normally be changed to TPI? Other thermostats with a choice seem to have TPI as default. Boiler too old for OT.

    Intergas X-plan with two zones

I've spoken with tech support and my local Intergas expert. Neither were 100% sure whether you could do the PDHW X-Plan with two zones. Tech support found a diagram which they thought might do it but it was marked strictly for internal use only. I understand the general idea where the boiler...

So you get some of the benefits of priority hot water. I can see it working really well if you have...

New DHW pump making radiators hot

This is about my elderly auntie. She lives in a very large dormer bungalow. There is a 45KW conventional boiler. There are three pumps, one for downstairs, one for upstairs and one for the hot water cylinder. The cylinder is on the same floor as the boiler and the pumps, and is only about ten...
