Vaillant e-bus controls for system boiler simple system

Ok, I think I have ascertained that my set up of Ecotec Plus 624 System boiler with a non-Vaillant unvented cylinder with vr10 ntc sensor in the pocket plus Sensocomfort and a VR66 wiring box in a single zone setup is working fine and that the expanded room temp setting is working properly...

Vaillant e-bus controls for system boiler simple system

I did completely result my vSmart a couple of times, but it always went out of control quite quickly. That thing about vSmart asking the boiler when at at what temp to fire boiler to reach the room temp at the required time is also rubbish in practice - most people turn off the predictive heat...

Vaillant vSmart - Any experts out there?

The technical guide at this link may be of interest https://thermogas.gr/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/vSMART_Technical_Guide_EN.pdf It seems that in some cases you may be unfortunate and get a dud vSmart, and no matter what you try it will always misbehave. So you may have to completely replace...

    Vaillant VSmart and error F28

Hi, I had the f28 error code with my boiler back in October, at the time I was also using the vSmart controller. I initially tried a local gas engineer who tried a few things and changed the boiler's gas valve, but after a few days f28 would come back. In the end I bit the bullet and negotiated...

Vaillant e-bus controls for system boiler simple system

The info I could find online suggests that it does use the room temp as well as the internet weather data, but I did a test on a very cold day where I put the roomstat outside, so it was reading about 2C, and with the parameters set to hysteresis it seemed to make very little difference to the...

Vaillant e-bus controls for system boiler simple system

vSmart gets its outside temp from the internet - I found it was usually within a couple of degrees of what Google weather was saying. I don't think the outside temp was the problem with my issues with vSmart - it's what it does with the data to decide what flow temps to request that is the...

    Vaillant VSmart: heating curve issue?

Hi, I have just given up on vSmart after 6 years of fiddling with the system every winter trying to get it to behave sensibly. I had begun to wonder if the heat curve setting is somehow doubled inside the black box, as I could never understand the flow temps the controller was requesting from...

Vaillant e-bus controls for system boiler simple system

@rjn21 and @ScottishGasMan may also be able to advise I have a similar single zone system that I have just upgraded to Sensocomfort wireless. My previous controls used a VR66 (but not the /2 version) which I have retained for the moment. I have got everything set up and the system appears to be...

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

It depends on your house - if it's cold and draughty like mine, then in the colder weather you might need to set the max CH temp at the boiler higher to be able to get up to temperature. Bear in mind that if you do set your boiler to these sort of max temps, it will effectively mean that the...

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

@Matthew B - I have pretty much the same set up as you, and the same observations - when heating the room to the setpoint the boiler modulates in the sense that it turns the flame down as necessary to maintain the required flow temp as the temp of the returning water increases, but the requested...

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

In my experience it doesn't do a very good job of calculating the heat curve. If I allow it to auto-select it always goes to 2.6, and calls for crazy flow temps. I think there's something wrong with the maths that controls it - using a heat curve of say 1.8 it asks for different flow temps...

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

Hi, I'm using the VR66 unit in monozone mode with the NTC. The system works fine, but the boiler continually gives me the f78 fault code when I check for faults - "Interruption to DHW outlet sensor at external controller. UK link box is connected, but the hot water NTC is not bridged" - my...

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

I have the max flow temp at the boiler set to 75C but hope I don't see that much in practice. So today I have vSMART set to advanced algorithm, with a heat curve of 1.4 (if using hysteresis I would use 1.8 to get similar flow temps - not sure why there's a difference) and at D9 I saw that it was...

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

If you want to check your boiler is modulating, have a look at the LCD display on the boiler when it's fully fired up near the start of a heating period. The flame bar graph will be maybe half way up the scale or higher, and once the system is getting closer to the set temperature the bar graph...

My graph for the same time period as yours. I see that the desired temp line disappears when you go to this scale, and you lose detail.

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

The flame symbol is there all the time, it doesn't indicate boiler on or anything. Are you on iOS rather than Android? My experience with the advanced algorithm is it's very erratic, more prone to overshoot. I'll be interested to hear how your comparison goes.

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

As you can see from my graph, it doesn't really get to temp and hold, it shuttles a bit. It's a compromise, you could set the heat curve lower so that it never quite reaches the set point, and then the boiler will be running all the time, but then it will take a long time from cold to get up to...

Vaillant ecotec plus 832 and VSmart does it look right to you?

The graphs in the vSMART app are pretty useless, it just gives you the % of time during that time slot that the boiler was fired and providing heat. Your graph does seem to be missing the 'desired temperature' line, but otherwise looks normal. You can pinch/stretch the graph to see more detail...
