Thanks Opps, there did seem to be more than a trickle even when the internal stopcock was closed. It's one of those circular, steering wheel type stoppers. Plumber said something about it working on gravity?

Thanks Exedon, not proposing to do it ourselves. Just surprised our contracted firm ( we pay a monthly fee for boiler and plumbing cover) have been reluctant to use a freezer kit and told us it is risky.
