    Varnishing / Protecting Bare Floorboards

Thanks. You'll be able to answer this then. What is the major difference between using a wax oil and a varnish then? Why would I use a wax oil instead of a varnish product? Thanks

    Varnishing / Protecting Bare Floorboards

Thanks mate. I think the floors are pine. Looking around the only product that looks suitable is Ronseals Diamond Hard Floor Varnish - Clear Matt. It's very expensive though at around £60 for 5 litres. Where would I find this HardWax Oil? And is there anything cheaper, but just as good...

    Varnishing / Protecting Bare Floorboards

Anyone please? Also, once the floors have been sanded I have read that you should clean the floor with white spirit and rub it lightly with wire wool. Is this good practice? Thanks

    Varnishing / Protecting Bare Floorboards

Hi all, I want to protect the exposed floor boards in our house. The original floor boards have been exposed for about 4 years, and the people here before us didn't protect them at all. As a result there are a few minor scuff marks. I am going to sand the floors this weekend (there is only...

    Raw plugs in Old Walls

Sure - although to be honest I'm going to try a combination of that and the polyester resin. Stick it all in there!

    Raw plugs in Old Walls

Yeah I know. One of the reasons why I don't really fancy drilling too much further!!

    Raw plugs in Old Walls

I'm out! Right - Thermo, it's not a lath and plaster wall. I've gone out and got some those Wet and Fix strips, and going to try and find some Polyester resin. I've already drilled in 80mm, and surely do not need to go in any further than that. If all else fails I'll have to though I...

    Raw plugs in Old Walls

Hi everyone, Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I didn't know where else to put it. We have bought an old (1910) house, and am currently trying to fix a bathroom cabinet to the wall. After drilling the holes to a depth of about 60mm, inserting both medium weight and heavy weight...
