Chimney Stack being taken out - what happens to Gas fire?

Hi there, I'm having the loft converted in a few weeks and we've decided to have the Chimney stack taken out as it runs right through the middle of the house. We're only having it removed in the loft and left in the bottom two floors of the house. We also have a gas fire in the sitting...

...what do i do about this?! It's ugly, protruding and in a position where decking isn't apropriate. I emailed the local council but they said neither they nor Yorkshire Water would do anything about it, as it's on land I own. Anyone know how easy/cheap it is to get these replaced with...

Gas Heater - what to do

First post, so hi to everyone. I've moved into my new house a few months ago and have been wondering what to do with the ugly gas heater in the kitchen (pictured below). Does anyone know how easy it would be have this replaced with a smaller, more modern one, or taken out completely? Thanks!
