    Achievements since 2010

You do have to wonder to what extent all of this actually matters. Let's say the Tories achieve a significant majority come the next GE, or Labour, or indeed Reform. Fast forward let's say 6-8 years with them still in government. How much better (in all the key areas) do we think the UK would...

Bod voted Tory in Harlow. How did you vote?

I find it surreal to think in 2024 on the one hand in sensible/modern/progressive countries we have women flying planes and leading on major engineering projects etc, and on the other we have countries where they can't work, can't drive, are expected to wear cloth head to toe. Pathetic.

Signs of the Rwanda threat working?

As long as we have protestors sitting in front of buses supposed to be used for transporting these people, or gathering outside places where they're housed to stop the authorities removing them, this will get nowhere. Solution? Give them 30 mins to protest, then if they don't disperse ...

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

Maybe an age/generation thing, however new cars appeal to me less and less. Needless tech, bland design, lack of actual buttons/dials/knobs (although I think some manufacturers are pulling back on some of that) becoming ever more like mobile devices. Cabin mood lights that can be changed...

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

I've not read enough into it, I wonder if it'll have a quick override e.g. floor the accelerator. The danger there is the vehicle then accelerating more than you want it to. Said it before, I'm so pleased the bulk of my driving has been in times when we can drive where we want at the (safe)...

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

Exactly my plan. I'm running a 2008 diesel. As and when it gives up, I'll buy a newer (but not new) car, ideally one that doesn't have this tech installed. I'll then run that for as long as possible, minimum a decade. One thing that might force our hands is if there's a gradual decrease in...

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

This is what I'm saying. It's going to be a weird transitional period of x years (couple of decades?), with a gradual increase of new vehicles with the tech and gradual decrease of vehicles without. In the intervening period, we'll have those who simply can't drive faster and those who can.

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

tbh I think, eventually, this sort of tech will be mandatory on all new vehicles. It'll be the natural direction of things as the tech becomes ever more advanced. Please note, before the moans come, I'm neither saying I agree with this sort of tech nor that 'advanced' equates to reliable...

    Intelligent Speed Assistance

This will be mandatory on new cars across the EU from July, mandatory in the sense it can't be switched off. The UK has opted out. My understanding is it will be activated each time the vehicle is started, however the driver can deactivate. I know we've discussed this and similar in other...

Humza Yousaf (SNP First Minister) resigns

If Scots think Scotland isn't performing well under the current structure, good luck thinking it would be better if Scotland was independent with this shower in government ...

Humza Yousaf (SNP First Minister) resigns

The SNP love coming out with rhetoric like this, no surprise given independence is their sole reason for being. If the polls generally floated around 60% for and 40% against at a minimum, you could understand their desire to try and force their desires through. However, polling doesn't reflect...

Taking possession of something you own.

So what is it you seek then? Wages to rise so the average wage (or even below average) meets the 2.5x property/wage ratio? Or are you expecting property prices to drop so the average UK property price meets the 2.5x property/wage ratio? Or somewhere in the middle? So re properties, what's...

Taking possession of something you own.

I can preempt the replies to my post above. Oh but how do they get the £25k deposit together??? Stop leasing a BMW you don't need. Stop going on your hols abroad. Stop buying 'stuff' of all descriptions that you don't need. If absolutely required and if possible, move back in with the...

Taking possession of something you own.

People love averages on here. Ok. Average UK property price: £285k Average UK salary: £35k Take a couple, one earning average salary, the other £25k. Combined income £60k. They've scrimped and scraped a £25k deposit. Mortgage is £260k, 4.3x combined earnings. No, not 2.5x, however...

I am fully confident the 'break the gangs' rhetoric will prove to be as effective as the 'war on drugs.'
