sorry, i forgot. 1/2" compression rings are available from plumbers merchants, Plumb Center etc...

The copper pipe could be 15mm or 1/2". If the compression ring that comes with the valve fits over the pipe, then it is 15mm. you should then be able to fit the valve with out a problem.

This is a standard installation, don't worry!!

Of course, this does mean a spot of plumbing!!! lol

The correct method would be to move the appliance valve/valves closer to the feeds for the machine. The sames go's for the waste outlet.

There is no problem with using the sink as an outlet, as long as it is not over 1m above the outlet of the machine. It may also be an idea to make sure the outlet hose is secured to the sink in some way, just incase it flops out when it is pumping out.
