1 rad always needs bleeding, pressure always drops.

I replaced the Heat Exchanger a couple of months ago as boiler kettling and hot water virtually stopped, I have checked this since and is ok, the air was getting into system before I changed this and I hoped this would cure the problem (maybe creating gas or something), how wrong was I. The...

1 rad always needs bleeding, pressure always drops.

Could be worth a try, I have always been concerned with compression fittings and olives etc, with how much to tighten and whether to reuse on same olive. The system is 9 rads and a towel rad (3 bed semi average size house), all soldered fittings really except the obvious radiator fittings...

1 rad always needs bleeding, pressure always drops.

Trouble is the leak is quite slow so would not notice for a while I presume, unless I hang fire until it gets warmer, I have left the inhibitor out until now as sick of replacing it but could put some in til then. If it is the PRV or in the boiler say shouldn't the AAV expel the air, or does...

1 rad always needs bleeding, pressure always drops.

Is there any obvious way of checking for leaks, bar the obvious ie water or scale from dried water. If leak can't be found this way is it worth eliminating the PRV as I am thinking if the leak is that slow the water may evaporate rather than drip out of the pipe.

1 rad always needs bleeding, pressure always drops.

Hi, The rad furthest away from the boiler (400mm ground floor at front of house), always seems to be collecting air so that it needs bleeding weekly as it goes cold, this also means the pressure drops by approx half a bar in 2 weeks so always needs refilling. The boiler (first floor back...

Low Hot Water Flow Rate - Heat Exchanger?

Thanks for the reply Chris, I went out and bought a Heat Exchanger today as I thought it would be difficult to de scale, so what I might do is clean the old one up for use when the new one gets caked in lime scale in another 3 or so years, the new one did come with some new washers so...

Low Hot Water Flow Rate - Heat Exchanger?

Hi, I have a Worcester Bosch 24i RSF which has been installed for 3 years, and have noticed a huge drop in the DHW flow rate on all taps, (I know its cold but this wasn't a problem last year). I have put a hose to the output of the Flow Switch and all seems ok, so this eliminates the...

    TRV not switching off.

Does anyone know if the Terrier 2 TRV heads will fit onto an existing Bulldog valve, as I am sure it is the head that is faulty, (the bit that presses the pin is too far away from the pin, and is sealed inside so can't fix), if they do fit then that will save me having to replace the whole valve...

    TRV not switching off.

I have tried another TRV top part, (the part where you adjust the temp setting), this seems to work, I can't be sure if it comes on and off on its own yet as it should but will find out. I did notice that the plastic part which moves up and down inside the TRV top part sits on a different...

    TRV not switching off.

Nice one I will try tonight, one thing I forgot to mention was the rad will turn off, but the TRV has to be turned almost completely off, well beyond the frost setting, and near the zero mark, and it is either on or off like its not even detecting the temperature changes, (like a lockshield...

    TRV not switching off.

Hi, does anyone know why a rad TRV will not turn a rad off so it is always staying hot, I have read loads on the forum and the usual problem seems to be with them not turning on, the pin seems loose and free, and I have swapped the plastic head with another working one in case a bit may have...

    Knocking from inside boiler

Nice one, I didn't know you could get some flusher/adapter to connect to the filling loop, makes life easier, I would have poured it down the towel rad. I will give this a try, did you mean drain through the drain taps at the lowest point, I'm not aware of any filter in the system, if there...

    Noise coming from boiler.

I have checked the Auto Air Vent, it is open a full turn, and seems ok. The pump seems to work as the farthest, and newest rad heats up quickly, noise is only in the boiler as described above, but doesn't always knock loudly, sometimes makes a kettling sound I think, but if its left on for a...

    Noise coming from boiler.

Thanks for the reply, when I opened it I left it open probably more than 1 turn, can't be sure until I check again. The pump works ok, could it be dirt in the system from installation, or adding another rad a year ago, and this collects in the boiler area, it seems strange that as soon as the...

    Noise coming from boiler.

Hi, I have a Worcester Bosch 24i Combi boiler, serviced early this year, and have recently noticed noises from the boiler which sound like air trapped, ie slight banging and knocking. I have looked at the instructions, and bled all rads, bled the pump from the screw in the front, and released...
