    odd sized tap washer

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I tried homebase, b&q, plumbing centre and another plumbing store without joy. Like I said, the washer seems to be an odd size!

    odd sized tap washer

Hi folks, This should be a simple job but I can't find the right sized tap washer anywhere! It's for a mixer tap (3 pipe type) - the washer looks fairly standard albeit on the small side. Flat black rubber washer with hole in the middle - outer diameter 12.5mm, hole diameter of 4mm...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Ooops, yes that should be 10 psi not 10 bar! Jack Dee sounds like he had experience of a worcester combi boiler! Let us know how you get on with that kitchen unit boiler job. P.S. the boiler is still running ok. :)

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Thought I'd give you an update... I got the pump out from under the boiler - it wasn't easy because the pump has to be angled to get through the tiny gap - furthermore the pipes to the pump are very short so there's very little 'give' in the pipes to wiggle the pump out. Oh and theres some...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

The manual suggests that the panel under the boiler be removed and the pump be removed from underneath! :o I'm not overly fond of the boiler but sometimes it's 'better the monster you know'. P.S. Kylie once sang a song dedicated to my worcester boiler...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Very useful info - thanks! :) I don't think the expansion vessel is leaking but I'll check it tomorrow. The real head scratcher is trying to remove the pump as it's behind the heat exchanger and access to it is limited. Not enough space to get the pipe wrench onto the nuts - hopefully...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Ah, I'm with you now - thanks for the explanation! :)

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Thanks for that info. :) I have to admit that I'm confused as I thought the system pressure of an undrained circuit would artificially increase the pressure reading of the expansion tank... so if the system pressure was 1 bar then the expansion tank would also read 1 bar, maybe it doesn't...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Thanks for the reply! :) I don't really suspect the expansion vessel but thought it would be a good idea to check it when I drain the system. What's a good way to clear out sludge from the heat-exchanger? I note that this one has a little bleed tap on it but I'm not totally sure yet if...

    what pressure for expansion vessel?

Hi folks, Just wondering - what sort of pressure should be in the expansion tank vessel for a combi boiler? It's an old worcester heatslave combi boiler, wall mounted, closed system, 11 radiators all on ground floor (bungalow). I'll be draining the system before measuring the expansion...

    advice for strong colour overpainting

There's so many doors that it's hardly worth using a roller - not enough uninterrupted wall to make it worthwhile! Anyone reckon mc hammer was referring to wet paint when he recorded this classic? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rar6MO9ybC0

    advice for strong colour overpainting

Tonygerm - took me a while to figure out what 'cutting in the architave' meant! There's 13 door frames in total in the upstairs and downstairs hall - but you're undoubtedly right that masking tape is the way forward. Looks like one coat paint is not on the menu so I'll get some of this...

    advice for strong colour overpainting

Thanks for the replies - really appreciate it! :) I didn't abrade the walls before I started and the previous paint was silk so I'm wondering if that is a factor - perhaps it was on the first coat, maybe subsequent coats it no longer matters? Maybe I should try a little experiment on a small...

    advice for strong colour overpainting

Hi folks! :) Advice needed for an newbie DIY-er! I've been trying to over paint the walls in the hall with magnolia however I'm having problems properly covering the previous colour. Even 3 coats later the previous colour can be seen peeking through... The previous colour is homebase...
