    large tiles plasterboard

the weight of tile is fine, plasterboard will take 32kg. The tub gear is no good,id use Bal single part flexi, bagged adhesive. You will need to prime before, Bal apd.Use thin bed solid bed trowel. Shower area needs tanking also. No worries

Filled Travertine - Impregnating / sealing

Hi Jedi, id be surprised if they dont need sealing. The impregnating sealer will sit just in the surface of tile not on it as a surface sealer would.Have you tested the tile by putting water on it to see if it stains?? id seal as instructions, what have you to loose?? the second coat after...

    Sealing stone floor

Hi Adam, What you need to do is seal the travertine first before laying, then probably a couple of times after you have grouted. The first time is to stop any adhesive or grout from staining them, then second to seal from future spills etc.. There are a few companies to choose from for...

Tiling over internal window sill in bathroom

Do not use pva.....it breaks down in water and will lead to tile failure. Waterproof adhesive is not waterproof it is only water resistant. What you need is a waterproof membrane behind tiles, try looking at Bal tanking systems on their website,it will also tell you to use an acrylic based...

Estimate on price per square metre for tiling

dekeweild id probably charge around £600 for the job. That would be inclusive of materials. Ripping tiles off usually means making walls good before tiling,so £25m2 plus day to take old tiles off and prepare.

    Perpairing the walls

my understanding is that PVA breaks down with water, so as most tiles will encounter water at one time or another, you are actually weakening the bond.. Moz you are right, makes no sense to settle for second best, and id be devastated to find id had a tile failure, even if adhesive co. paid...

    Perpairing the walls

Ray alls i can suggest is sanding the plaster to get rid of pva, then apply Bal APD as your primer, let dry then ready to tile. Moz is correct , powder addies are superior, they will be more flexible and have a better bond strength, but if this is your own and youve not done much tiling id stay...

Rotten plasterboard just above shower tray

things are never that simple :D you can do as you suggest, but the same will happen again in time. The thing you should be more worried about is where is the water going after contact with plaster board?Your shower needs tanking to protect boards ect...
