    Bumpy plastered walls

I wonder if someone can help with this problem. Our son moved into his home four years ago. The walls had been skimmed and decorated. Just recently two internal walls have started to become bumpy as you can see from the picture. The only thing that has changed is they have a new baby and...

    Cavity wall insulation

We're considering having cavity wall insulation. We had someone here yesterday to do a survey. Two of the test spots were less than 47mms. so he said we couldn't have it done. Does this sound right?

lockout light on central heating boiler

Our central heating went off this morning and we noticed the red lockout light was on on the boiler. We've reset it, but can anyone tell me why this would happen. It hasn't happened before.

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

We've just had our bungalow re-piped. It wasn't half as bad as we expected. The British Gas Engineers have done a first class job, and at last we can stop worrying about leaks in the concrete floor. Thanks to everyone for their replies. :)

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

Hi Stevedo, thanks for your reply. As you say, it's probably bits of sealer bunging up the hole/holes temporarily. The pressure has fallen from 1 to 0 in about three hours on occasions. Our bungalow is about 26 years old, and the Gas Board Engineer said the lime in the concrete would be...

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

The saga continues. On Sunday the pressure didn't drop at all, on Monday and yesterday we had to top up the water three times as the pressure had fallen to zero on on each occasion, yet today it hasn't fallen at all. If there is a leak in the pipes in the concrete floor why is there such a...

Pressure loss in central heating system

You have my sympathy Nick, we have exactly the same problem. We have concrete floors and the Gas Board Engineer says the only way to find the leak is to dig up the floors. We've decided to have surface pipes fitted, and have someone coming next week to give us a price. Like you, we've had...

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

Thanks for your reply Oilman. We're not losing any water from the pressure relief pipe, so thought this meant the expansion vessel was OK.

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

Thanks for your replies. We're more or less resigned to the fact that we're going to have to have the place repiped, just the job for the middle of winter. Can I ask one last question. The leak must be in the concrete floor, there's no sign of damp anywhere. Why does the rate that the...

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

The Gas Board engineer called again today as the boiler was still losing pressure, and we were still topping it up twice a day. He insisted there was a leak in the pipework in the concrete floor, (he even offered to get us a quote for new pipework). When we insisted on evidence of faulty...

    Central Heating Boiler Losing Pressure

I hope someone can help, we are at our wit's end. We have been losing pressure in our central heating boiler for some weeks now, have had the Gas Board out eight times to look at it and we're no further forward. They've fitted new valves and a new expansion vessel, but it has made no...
