    For the celing, theres a fantastic product called polycell smoothover, ive used it on walls, but not ceelings yet, check the label, but it should do the job perfectly for you. Personally i would sand and wash the walls before tiling them, just to knock any shine off the paint.

    you might want to live a couple of mm gap round the room and put the skirting on top, that way it should prevent cracks as it expands with heat.

    Polycell do a bath sealent, its like a strip thats self adisive... It works perfectly and it much neater than using silicone... might be worth checking out, i personally sealed with slicone from underneath where i could, pushed some down from the top, and then used the polycell stuff... its now...

    Im actually doing somehting like this for my mother in law. We are going to remove the glass and put MDF in its place. Put battons on the top, add some insulation, a bit of play wood and make it into a real roof.
