    NYMJ or SWA?

NYMJ is used alot over here. i.e you would use it for an outside light mounted on the wall of your house. What cable would you normally use for that? (just out of interest, nothing to do with my original query)

    NYMJ or SWA?

Sorry, maybe it's an Irish thing! NYMJ is resistant to deterioration from sunlight and wet conditions. Doesn't have mechanical protecion like SWA though. http://www.tores.ie/catalog/html/textNYMJ325.html

i'm running a cable from the CU to a shed for a twin socket and a light. The cable will go out and along the side wall of the house, then along the back wall of the house and along the diving wall in the back garden, and into the shed which is alongside the dividng wall. The cable will be about...

    Tiling/Flooring Question

The floorboards aren't in great condition, it'd be easier to replace all with ply. I was just looking for re-assurance that 3/4" ply would be ok on it's own. Thanks.

    Tiling/Flooring Question

I'm putting tiles down in my kitchen, but I have 2 problem areas. If i put 3/4" plywood down and then tile on top, the floor will be raised by about 1 inch. My back door opens inwards, and there isn't a 1 inch clearance underneath it. Plus its aluminium, so I wont be able to trim it! Also, my...

    Lighting Layout

Well at the moment it is two rooms. We're knocking down the wall in between to make one big room. I haven't used downlighters before, so i just want to make sure i'm not going to get some horrible shadows etc!

    Lighting Layout

I plan to replace the normal ceiling roses in my kitchen/dining room with downlighters. The room is 19ft X 12.5ft. See image below: The upside down 'L' on the right represents the worktops. The black spots represent the lights, and the red circles are drawn to estimate the area covered by...

here's the pic you were thinking of: http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x228/Dr_Doolittle/DSC00454.jpg Not sure how many litres it is. It's just a normal 3 bed semi.

    low pressure after replacing radiator

Thanks for the info. Looks a bit complicated. At the moment valve C is closed so the boiler is only heating the hot water - in which case the pressure ranges from 0.5 to just over 1 bar. We're due a service in 2 weeks, do you think it will be ok until then?

hi guys - thanks for all your replies. sorry for only replying now - i've been busy all day. To answer some questions: The cold water tank shown is the main cold water tank for the house. There appears to be no non return valve. The boiler is a replacement for the one which was installed...
