thanks for your replies. Yes, i did wonder about drainage. It might put me off the idea. Maybe gravel at the centre of the patio and outside of the log wall would do? Good point about the soil. But a little extra topsoil spread around shouldn't hurt.

I've got a concrete wall bordering my garden that I want to paint. Its one of those walls made from horizontal concrete sections on top of each other. Its quite a rough surface. What should I use to prepare it and then paint it? I'd prefer to use natural products if possible. Thanks
