Flloor tiles grouted today - sealing tomorrow

What have they put the tiles on? Not sure I follow - do you mean the base or the adhesive? The base is concrete and there are underfloor heating pads. It seems a shame that the nice limestone colour has gone a rather grubby beige - and not a very even looking beige at that. As I said, one of...

PLEASE HELP QUICK grout yesterday - seal today - is it safe?

Thanks for that, I'll remember that we can do that if really hate it. Does the sealant always change the colour? I really liked the limestone with my very pale tiles, now the grout is a rather nasty beige.

PLEASE HELP QUICK grout yesterday - seal today - is it safe?

If there is anyone listening - please give me a straight answer. Should they do it as quickly as that? Please have a look at my question last Sunday - I would really appreciate someone giving that a quick glance. If the grout does look dirty after they seal it, is there anything easy we can...

Flloor tiles grouted today - sealing tomorrow

If you could just go down the list to my last question, I explained exactly the difference - if that wouldn't be too much trouble. I do appreciate you replying, thank you.

Flloor tiles grouted today - sealing tomorrow

No-one answered my last post, I'm really getting nervous - the sealing of the grout on the tiles in the bathroom is really mucky looking. The other places don't look too bad. But they grouted a huge area of living room today and are going to seal it tomorrow. Is that wise?

seal floor tiles - in one room grout is darker

Elderly lady again - you were so good last time I asked, can you bear to help again? I have searched, but can't find exact query. The builders sealed one bathroom floor - the lad looked to be doing it nicely - the bathroom tiles are a bit matt, non slip for elderly people, but now I realise...

grouting floor tiles - below level of tiles?

Do you think it looks better smooth? Rather than indented? The marshaltown grout flout is only about £16 but the washboy costs quite a lot. The kitchen and hall are already done, but the major living areas open from these areas open plan, The builder says he isn't using his thumb, but some sort...

grouting floor tiles - below level of tiles?

Same elderly lady asking! I have had ceramic floor tiles in previous house, now, in this house, we are having a fairly large area done. The builder has laid the tiles in the kitchen and hall, and they look fine, except I am rather worried that, when he grouted them, he runs his thumb along to...

glass mosaic wall tilles - adhesive oozing through

He is using a 4mm notched trowel but, with the brown paper on the face surface, he has to wait until it is set before he can see whether it has oozed through, and by then it has set hard!

glass mosaic wall tilles - adhesive oozing through

I am having glass mosaic wall tiles put in my kitchen. Instead of having a mesh on the back, they have a sheet of brown paper on the front. The tiler has laid a few and I can see that the adhesive is oozing through the gaps between the little squares. How can the grout be put on adequately? The...

Hi, old roomstat! Mine was only 15, so just a teenager. It was working fine the day before. How often do you replace yours?

At last I have a reply to all the kind people who tried to help with this boiler problem. When I was out, the builders asked their Corgi man to have a look at the boiler etc and they tell me he said the roomstat wasn't working and that I needed to replace it. He disconnected the room stat and I...

Dave, did you mean to put a 'not' before the 'stop working'? The boiler will 'stop working' because of this, in fact it is STILL working but has reached the set temperature and has turned its self off until the water cools in it. This will take longer if there is less circulation through the...

The hot water system is working fine. This is all work in progress, gradually reaching completion in a few weeks. We are living in a terrible muddle, but see improvements all the time. The boiler was installed by a CORGI engineer and he will be coming back to drain out and cleanit all out when...

If those radiators are on a loop from the domestic hot water, I doubt there is much we can do to change that since floors have been tiled over the pipes etc. But if I choose to turn off the radiators on their own isolating valves, will this really cause the boiler to stop working or cause it...

It was a new boiler, and previously a new cylinder on an old rad system, with a few new radiators. The radiators that get hot off the water system are new, but have just been connected to the old pipework I suspect.

I managed to feel the two pipes at top, they are warm but not red hot. I am 70 and don't think I can do the loft inspection myself, and I'm a bit nervous about doing all the techie things suggested. I am scared I'll do some damage or blow the place up. I'm not sure what valves to look for or...
