    hi guys, bought a new light fitting, took the old one down, the wiring not as i would expect. two 2 core flex 1mm2, nuetral in one used as earth. i know it is not good practice, just cant understand why. i suspect they go to a joint box somewhere. would you reccomend i get a periodic inspection?

    Is this legal?

    not a leccy as such, more a transformer builder. at work they frown on crimping solid cables, we have to solder the crimp aswell, not sure why, surely a crimp is the same as a joint box terminal? am i right?

    thanx guys, i was a bit surprised myself by the plumbers attitude to the electrics , considering he took the wires out, thats what led me to believe i needed a leccy to do it and issue some sort of a certificate. anyhoo, thanx for your help guys, what a great website

    hi guys, just had a new combi boiler installed, plumber will not wire it. the new boiler is in the same place as the old one, the flex will reach, the fuse rating is the same in the fused outlet for both old and new, the earth bonding is 6mm2 across the pipes/6mm2 back to the cu. am i legally...
