Electric charge in bathroom tap water

Hi The water in the bathroom washbasin in my daughter's house has an electric charge in it so when you run the water and hold your hand in the water, you can feel sharp stabbing feeling in the fingers. The weird thing is I have checked all the pipe work underneath the basin and the majority...

    cross-bonding

I know there's a lot already on this but need some advice please as this is the first time I've touched cross-bonding. In my bathroom none of the pipes are cross-bonded - the pipes feeding the bathroom are in the loft above the bathroom ceiling and are continuous from the bath to the toilet...

Extending lighting cable by about two feet

Excuse my ignorance but what is a maintenance free one - the only junction boxes I've seen have screw terminals. Also, if I run a single T&E from the box to a new rose I assume the brown wire (live) will run from the switch live terminal of the JB to the live terminal in the rose, the blue...

Extending lighting cable by about two feet

My daughter's light fitting in the hallway is approx 1-2 feet off centre and she wants it centred. The problem seems to be that the cables have been cut short and that was the only place to put it. The current fitting is a ceiling rose and pendant light. and the cables are currently coming...

    Outside security light

Hi I'm doing some DIY work for my daughter tomorrow and she wants an outside security light installed. The one she's bought is from B&Q. Looking at the set up in the garage, there's a light in a batten holder coming from the main downstairs ring in the house. I'm planning to continue the...

    Dimmer switch

Hi I know that there are a lot of posts on this subject which are all very helpful but my new dimmer switch has 'Load' rather than L1 or L2 - it also has the ~ and arrow. Does the switch live go into Load and the red live into ~ ? I need to earth it as it is metal. Thanks for any info...

    Flexi tap tail connectors

Thanks - I tried the toolstation but couldn't find anything there suitable. The pipes that came with the tap are 10mm to 15mm copper pipes but I had the flexi connectors from another monobloc I had. I'll try the compression fittings and see how it goes! Thanks for the advice. GEoff

    Flexi tap tail connectors

Hi I'm fitting a monobloc washbasin in the bathroom and the flexi connectors I have aren't long enough to reach the pipework that someone else has put in place. Does anyone know where I can get 500mm long 10mm to 15mm flexi tap tail connectors for a monobloc tap in the bathroom...
